Randy Watson, 50, Adair County, KY (1965-2015)

He was the son of William & Esther Mae Goodin Watson, who survive. He was a native of Jefferson County, KY, and a resident of Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. Randy had professed faith in Christ, attended the Beulah Chapel Brethren In Christ Church and had worked on the farm.

Medal of Honor recipient part of Traveling Wall ceremony

Veteran Don Jenkins to be recognized July 10

Frankfort, KY - The opening ceremony for the Traveling Vietnam Wall on Friday, July 10, will also recognize one of Kentucky's Medal of Honor recipients from the Vietnam War.

Don Jenkins, of Morgantown, will be recognized at the ceremony at 10 amET Friday, July 10, while the American Veterans Traveling Tribute wall is on display at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Jenkins and Gary Littrell, who lives in Florida, are Kentucky's two living Medal of Honor recipients from the Vietnam War.

AC Fire Department extinguishes structure fire

Firefighters respond to mobile home fire on Little Cake Road, arrive in time to quickly extinguish blaze, resulting in minimal damage to the home.

Columbia Adair County Fire Department responded to 1972 Little Cake Rd , Sunday night at 8:42pmCT, on a report of a structure fire. Upon arriving at the scene firefighters found that a mobile home owned by Karl and Kristy Kleiner was on fire showing smoke from center of house area.

Firefighters made entry into the home locating the fire quickly and extinguished it resulting in minimal fire damage to the home.

There were 16 firefighters and three fire apparatus on scene.

Herbert Coomer, 85, Cane Valley, KY (1929-2015)

Mr. Coomer was a member of the House Upon a Rock Church and was a retired overhead crane operator for General Motors in Springfield, Illinois He was a native of Chance, Adair County, KY, and a resident of Cane Valley, Adair County, KY, at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Dan and Lula Turner Coomer. His wife of 56 years, Lula Mae Hulse Coomer, survives. He leaves 14 direct living descendants

Gov. Beshear Celebrates Governor's Cup Award in Lexington

Site Selection magazine names Kentucky the top state for economic development

Lexington, KY - Gov. Beshear joined community officials from the Lexington region to celebrate Site Selection magazine naming Kentucky the top state for economic development projects per capita last year. The Governor was presented with the "Governor's Cup" trophy by magazine officials earlier this year.

"When the University of Kentucky Wildcats won the men's basketball national championship a few years back, Coach Calipari took the trophy on a statewide tour so all the fans could see it and celebrate," Gov. Beshear said. "We are doing a similar thing today with the Governor's Cup trophy here in Lexington with city and business leaders because Kentucky won another kind of national championship for economic development."

Okay, so a hot dog with ketchup and/or mustard will get you through a meal, but not in style.

After years (and years) of searching and experimenting, I finally found the relish recipe I wanted. Roberta Tevis, our next door neighbor back in the early 60's made what she called tomato ketchup. (She also made a highly memorable beer cheese, but I digress-). It was heavenly and the wonderful smell of it cooking never left my memory. Finally, I stumbled upon a recipe in a Southern Living cookbook that gave me the 'aha' moment.

CU has record summer school enrollment

President Carter: "Campbellsville University’s momentum is strong with new faculty and staff being added and new academic projects and a new wrestling gymnasium in the works."

Campbellsville University has achieved a record summer school enrollment with 4,120 total credit hours taken. This is a new record exceeding the 4,094 hours recorded in 2012.

Dr. Donna Hedgepath, president for academic affairs, said, “We love to see students take advantage of summer school at CU. Not only do they save money, but they also have the unique opportunity to experience more one-on-one attention from our talented faculty and get a kick start on the fall semester or work toward an earlier graduation date.”

My friend and I got to the concession stand and ordered 2 hot dogs with everything. 20 year old Raywick, KY driver injured in 1-vehicle collision

LEBANON, KY – Tpr. Logan Smith is investigating a collision that occurred today at 1:15amET on KY 527. 20-year-old Joey Morris, of Raywick, was traveling south on KY 527 in a 1994 Ford truck, when he ran off the roadway, overcorrected, crossed both lanes of travel, left the road and struck a fence and tree.

Morris was not belted and was treated at Springview Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The show will offer even more excitement for 2015. Remote Control Jets Over Kentucky drew 164 remote control jet pilots from all over the world last year, and this year promises to be even better.

Uninterrupted flying will continue for our pilots the entire week. Flying will begin each day at 8amET and conclude at darkness. All flying will be done from the 5,000 ft. main runway.
