Traffic Calming - George Kolbenschlag says: Let's just do it Comments re photo 55192 Burkesville Street KY Time to calm it 24 hours a day George Kolbenschlag writes: Amen on traffic calming. It's the kind of thinking we need if we want to get people (safely) back down town. There's no reason why relatively simple things like the suggestions can't be done with a minimum of grumbling. Let's just do it. --George KolbenschlagThanks, George - This idea alone will go a long way toward saving downtown. Nearly every town around now has traffic calming streets, whether by design or coincidence. And they've all benefited by it. - ED 2014-06-02 18:31:43 | Comments | Printable version
Joyce Coomer: Traffic on the square (A note: The photo cutline calling for calming the traffic suggested for one-laning around the courthouse - there a confusing two lanes from Burkesville to Jamestown, and for having parking on both sides of the street on Burkesville (and Jamestown Street, though that wasn't mentioned) as means to slowing traffic and increasing safety downtown for those on foot. - EW) By Joyce Coomer Personal commentary I don't have any problems walking or driving around the square, nor have I ever considered there to be two traffic lanes around the square - there simply isn't room.
