Although disabled, Mrs. Cofer loved being outside, especially fishing, as her health permitted. She had professed faith in Christ, and was a member of Green River Memorial Baptist Church.

Pilot crop of hemp planted at UK's Spindletop Farm

Scientists in UK's College of Agriculture, Food and Environment will conduct two trials for fiber production and one for seed production

One motorcyclist dead, one critically injured in I-65 crash

Darden, TN husband and wife were riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles when when, for unknown reasons, traffic ahead of them began to slow. Both cyclists attempted swerving action to avoid hitting a Ford Expedition, but wife's cycle hits SUV, and husband's cycle hits hers. Wife pronounced dead at the scene; husband airlifted from Glendale, KY, scene to UL Medical Center, in Louisville, KY. Driver of Expedition uninjured.

Kentucky State Police Post 4, Elizabethtown, KY

GLENDALE, KY - Kentucky State Police Post 04 Troopers worked a three vehicle fatal accident on Southbound I-65 at the 85 mile marker on Sunday, May 25, 2014.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:20pmET just south of the Glendale exit. Miranda M. Flowers (42) and her husband, Gerald Flowers Jr. (43) both of Darden, TN were traveling Southbound on their Harley Davidson Motorcycles when for unknown reasons traffic began to slow. Miranda Flowers and Gerald Flowers both attempted to swerve right to avoid hitting a Ford Expedition being driven by Angela J. Mitchell (33) of Louisville, KY.

Ricky Bault's retirement marks end of 26 year career with the school system

​Ricky and Mitzi Bault were the guests of honor for Rick's retirement luncheon hosted by district office staff and maintenance personnel today, Tuesday, May 27, 2014.

The luncheon, which included a traditional retirement watch and U of K cake, was held in the Board of Education offices.

Rick's last day on the job will be this Friday, May 30, 2014 and marks the end of a 26 year career with the Adair County School District. - Alan W. Reed, Superintendent, Adair County School District

There were approximately 25 students and their parents in attendance at the Indian University orientation earlier this month. The meeting provided parents with an overview of the mission of Indian University as well as admission criteria for the 2014 pilot year. Other topics included exactly how the new program will work and how it could benefit their student.

Today, 7am-5pmCT, Tuesday May 27, 2014, Stotts Construction Company, Inc. will be working at the 100 block of So. Reed St. stopping at the intersection of S Reed Street and Jamestown Street and on Jefferson Alley from S Reed Street to Burkesville Street in Columbia, KY. These sections of S Reed Street and Jefferson Alley will be closed during construction. We ask the public to avoid these areas where possible and to expect some delays in traffic.

ACES is 9th in KY & S Indiana for Pennies for Patients drive

School goal was $3,000; exceeded their goal with grand total of $3,707.40

Adair County Elementary School participated in the annual Pennies for Patients fundraising program with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The school set a goal of $3000.00, but exceeded their goal with a grand total of $3707.40.

This placed the school at 9th of 304 schools in the Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapters.
