Supt. Reed: Setting the record straight on land purchase

Dear readers and Adair County citizens:

I want to sincerely apologize for how one of my comments in last week's paper regarding my quote about purchasing the 13 acre adjoining tract of land from Mr. Sherman Wayne Burton may have come across to your readers. The main reasons stated for moving forward with the purchase were so that we would have enough land to build a much needed bus garage, and so that campus beautification can continue. I also mentioned the need for a "buffer zone" between our campus and the re-cycling operation run by the Burton family.

Letter: More support for reward

Lois Cunningham writes:
Ed... This kind of blatant cruelty is disgusting and scary. Individuals that exhibit this kind of cruelty with animals can move on to cruelty with all living things.

I too pledge 50.00 to the reward fund for the apprehension of the individual or individuals that committed this crime....and it is a crime, not a little misdirected mischief. --Lois Cunningham

Chris Cato: Darn shame KY has most lax animal cruelty laws

Comments re article 67098 Letter Torture is Slippery Slope

By Chris Cato

It is a darn shame that Kentucky has some of the most lax laws concerning animal cruelty in the nation. The same goes for the laws concerning animal abuse and neglect.

The perpetrator/perpetrators responsible for this heinous crime need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the present laws. We animal lovers need to colectively push Kentucky legislators towards passing laws that carry more appropriate sentences for such cruel and cowardly actions. - Chris Cato
