John Lackey, 60, of Campbellsville, KY, died at 6:32amET, Tuesday, October 2, 2012 in Louisville, KY.

The funeral service will be at 1pmET/12pm noon CT, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. Bob Martin and Brad Lackey. Entombment will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 3878 Greensburg Road, Campbellsville, KY, with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Daphon Lena Tucker, Russell Springs, KY (1924-2012)

She was the matriarch of a highly regarded Russell County, KY family. She leaves seven direct living descendants, including granddaughter Tricia Cole and great grandchildren Jace and Taylor Cole of Columbia, KY. She was the widow of the late Orvis Aaron Tucker.

Daphon Tucker, 88, a resident of Fair Oaks Nursing, died Tuesday at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral service 10amCT, Friday, October 5, 2012, at Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with burial in the Parks Ridge Cemetery. Bro. Billy Dunbar will be the officiating clergy. Visitation will be after 5pmCT, Thursday, October 4, 2012, at the funeral home.

KSP checks suicide tip; finds kids living in hazardous conditions

Children taken to paternal grandmother for care; parents charged with Criminal Abuse 1st degree and lodged in Hardin County Detention Center

Kentucky State Police, Post 4, Elizabethtown, KY

(ELIZABETHTOWN, KY) - On Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at approximately 11:24pmET Troopers from Post 4 responded to 407 Berea Road in Elizabethtown, KY to investigate a complaint of a female threatening to kill herself. Units were advised by family members, upon arrival, that the female suspect was inside with her husband and possibly armed with a handgun.

The female, Jennifer R. Hart and her husband, Christopher Hart exited the residence a short time later without further incident. Troopers entered the residence to check the welfare of three small children and it was discovered that the living conditions of the home were extremely hazardous to their health. The children were removed from the home and placed in the care of the paternal grandmother. The Cabinet for Families and Children also got involved and will follow up with the family at a later date. Both parents were charged with Criminal Abuse 1st Degree and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center. Tpr. Bryan Washer is conducting the ongoing investigation. - MTPR Norman Chaffins

Center for Rural Development adds 3 counties to service Area

Boyd, Carter and Elliott Counties added; 45 of Kentucky's 120 counties now in center's primary service area

News from the Center for Rural Development

The Center for Rural Development expands its 42-county primary service area to include three additional KY counties in Boyd, Carter, and Elliott. Center's primary coverage area now covers nearly 40 percent of the state.

The Center's new primary service area includes 45 Southern and Eastern Kentucky counties, including (CM primary service area counties in bold): Adair, Bath, Bell, Boyd, Breathitt, Carter, Casey, Clay, Clinton, Cumberland, Estill, Elliott, Floyd, Garrard, Green, Harlan, Jackson, Jessamine, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Lincoln, Magoffin, Martin, McCreary, Menifee, Metcalfe, Monroe, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Russell, Rowan, Taylor, Wayne, Whitley, and Wolfe. Established in 1996, and the idea of Congressman Rogers and other leaders, The Center serves as a hub of operations from which programs including technology, and business services are brought to people in Southern and Eastern Kentucky and elsewhere.

The Center, 2292 South Highway 27, Suite 300 Somerset, Kentucky 42501, concentrates on four Focus Areas: Leadership, Technology, Public Safety, and Arts and Culture. The CEO is Lonnie Lawson.

One driver injured in 2 vehicle collision in Casey Co., KY

LIBERTY, CASEY CO., KY - Trooper Mike Woodrum is investigating a two vehicle collision that occurred at 7:45amET, 6 miles East of Liberty on KY-70.

Kathy Napier, age 55 of Kings Mountain, KY was operating a 2003 Buick Lesabre. She was attempting to pull onto KY-70 from Jones Park Elementary School when she was struck in the rear by a 1996 Toyota Tercel being operated by Kari Hogue, age 27 of Liberty, KY.

KSP Trooper, Post 4, injured in scuffle with suspect

Driver continued to resist, KSP says, after first Taser cycle in Bardstown, KY case

(BARDSTOWN, KY) - On Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at approximately 7:30pmET, Tpr. Jonathan Downs stopped a vehicle on the Bluegrass Parkway near the 18 mile marker for doing 106 mph in a 70 mph zone. When Tpr. Downs stopped the vehicle he suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Upon failure of the field sobriety tests, Tpr. Downs went to place the suspect under arrest.

ACHS Site Based Council seeking Ag Dept. Instructional Assistant

The Adair County High School Site Based Council is now seeking applications for an instructional assistant for the Agriculture Department.

The position involves assisting the agriculture teachers with classroom and laboratory instruction (shop, livestock barn and greenhouse), FFA contests and activities, Supervised Agriculture Experience Programs (SAEP) and Agriculture Employability Skills (Co-op), according to information received from the district.
