I'm very familiar with this family. Burley was my great Grandfather's brother (Charlie Foster). Burley was married to Mary Linda Simpson and she was my great grandmother's sister (Maude Simpson Foster-Burton).

Open letter to Ann, Fiscal Court, Highway Departments:

Thank you for helping the people on that road, and could you somehow fix it to where they can see when they pull out on the left? It is dangerous and most of them are older. Thank you.

House approves $100,000 for Heartland Commerce & Tech Park

Heartland Commerce and Technology Park is on KY 55 approximately 8 miles from Adair County

The United States House of Representatives approved a measure to designate $100,000 for the Heartland Commerce and Technology Park in Campbellsville, U.S. Representative Ron Lewis announced Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Funds were included as part of the Transportation, Treasury, Housing and Urban Development, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2008 (H.R. 3074).

VFW Post 6097, VFW Auxiliary meet Thursday, July 26, 2007

4 indicted in Burkesville, charged in 2006 murder of 14 year old

On July 19, 2007, the Cumberland County Grand Jury indicted the following individuals and charged them with the death of a 14 year old juvenile that occurred in May of 2006.

On July 23, 2007, two individuals were arrested and the others were arrested on July 24, 2007 were Mark L. Riley, 41, Burkesville, KY; Teresa G. Riley, 45, Burkesville, and James Cleary, 40, Burkesville, KY; and Lavond L. Garmer, 34, Burkesville, KY.

Detective Kevin Hunt of Kentucky State Police Post 15, Columbia, is investigating the case.

Vietnam era Sgt. Joe Hare shares notes from Seattle reunion

Three photos accompany this account

Five Vietnam Veterans from the 3rd Platoon, Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion/28th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division got together in Seattle, Washington this past weekend, July 20-23, 2007. These friends had found each other within the last 4 months and met in Seattle for the first time in 40 years.

Driver injured after car strikes tree S. of Columbia this AM

Jennifer Brockman, 17, Columbia, KY, was treated and released at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia following a single vehicle accident four miles south of Columbia on KY 55.

The driver, who was belted, was traveling south in a 2005 Ford Escape 4D, went off the right shoulder of the road, overrected and struck a tree. The accident occurred at 10:00am CT, Wednesday, July 25, 2007.

ConnectKentucky wants email on how broadband has helped

Adair County individuals' own stories, about business use, community news, personal use of broadband internet or maybe how broadband has saved money are suggestions. -CM

Kentucky unemployment falls .2% lower in June than May 2007

Commonwealth News Center story

Kentucky's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell from 5.5 percent in May 2007 to 5.4 percent in June 2007, according to the Office of Employment and Training (OET), an agency of the Kentucky Education Cabinet. June 2007's jobless rate was lower than June 2006's rate of 5.7 percent.

KSP makes marijuana growing arrest, seizures in Flatwoods area

Detective Danny Burton of HIDTA is continuing investigation

On July 24, 2007, the Kentucky State Police and the HIDTA Drug Task Force arrested Daniel Watson, age 42, of 550 Jr. Loy Road, Columbia, Kentucky for growing marijuana in the Flatwoods area of Adair County.

Adair Genealogical Society will present Daniel Trabue

The Adair County Genealogical Society will host a special program, "The Life and Times of Daniel Trabue," on August 6, 2007, at 6:00pm CT, at the Adair County Public Library.

Daniel Trabue was a Kentucky Frontiersman, Revolutionary War Soldier, and one of Columbia's Founding Fathers and was a well-known businessman of his time.Admission is free, and there will be refreshments. Photo

Seeking information on Burley & Mary Foster family

To the readers, CM

I am trying to find information on the Fosters from Columbia, KY. Any information would be helpful. My grandfather's name was Burley Foster and my Grandmother Mary Simpson Foster. I think I have two uncles left, Delmar Foster and Burley Foster (Russell Springs, KY). Thanks for any help.

Adair 9-10 year olds will play third game in State tonight

Adair County now 1-1 in tournament play after Monday loss to South London
