LWC Volleyball defeats IU Southeast 3-1 on Thursday

New Albany, IN - The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team closed out their fall slate of game with a 3-1 win over Indiana University Southeast on Thursday evening.

Lindsey Wilson got off to a slow start in the match falling behind by as many as seven points in the first set before leveling the match at 12. From there the Blue Raiders took an 18-14 lead before ultimately taking the set 25-19.

Deaths today in the ten county LCDHD - We are sad to report 1 new death today from Adair. New Cases: We report that our total case count has increased by 80 today: Adair: 15; Casey: 1; Clinton: 4; Cumberland: 6; Green: 3; McCreary: 8; Pulaski: 8; Russell: 12; Taylor: 17; and, Wayne: 6. Our current new case growth rate is: 1.016. This means our total case count is projected to double every 43.75 days. The most new cases we ever added in a single day was today, 10/22/2020, when we added 80 cases.

Patricia Ann (Pat) Monday, 68, Liberty, KY (1952-2020)

Patricia Ann "Pat" Monday of Liberty passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020, at Liberty Care Center. She was 68 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 3pmET on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville St, Liberty, KY, with Rev. Junior Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Boil Water Advisory Campbellsville Road area

UPDATE 10/23/2020:Campbellsville Road Boil Water Advisory lifted

Columbia/Adair Utilities District

Date Issued 10/22/2020
Time Issued 3:30 P.M.

A BOIL WATER ADVISORY is in effect for consumers from 610 Campbellsville Road to 1125 Campbellsville Road and all side roads in between and Grant Lane.

The advisory has been issued due to main line leak. Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore this Boil Water Advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure.

Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.

This advisory will remain in effect until the situation has been corrected and test results have shown the water to be of an acceptable quality.

Adair unemployment improves from August to September

Frankfort, KY - Unemployment rates rose in 113 Kentucky counties between September 2019 and September 2020, fell in six and was the same in Crittenden County, according to the Kentucky Center for Statistics (KYSTATS), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.

Unemployment fell in Adair and all surrounding counties from August to September, 2020, while remaining above 2019 unemployment levels in each case. Cumberland County continues to rank in the top-10 for lowest unemployent rates statewide.

Oldham County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.5 percent. It was followed by Carlisle, Cumberland, Pendleton, Shelby, Todd and Washington counties, 3.8 percent each; Henry and Spencer counties, 3.9 percent each; and Logan County, 4 percent.

Jackie Dale Turner, 60, Columbia, KY (1959-2020)

Jackie Dale Turner of Columbia passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. He was 60 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Vitis Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Friday.

All attendees to the visitation and/or funeral are required to wear a facial covering and follow the Healthy at Work guidelines.

Boil Water Advisory lifted

Columbia/Adair Utilities District

As of 10:30 a.m. on October 22, 2020 the boil water advisory for customers from 911 Milltown Church Road to 3374 Milltown Church Road, Atkins Road and Corbin Richard Road has been lifted by the Division of Water. This means your water is safe for human consumption. You no longer have to boil your water.

Adair Co. Grand Jury returns indictments Thur 8 Oct 2020

Indictments brought against four individuals from Lexington, Radcliff, Campbellsville and Columbia, KY, on charges including arson, possession, terroristic threatening, trafficking, trespass, reckless driving, and wanton endangerment.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

Welcome Crappie fishing families to Adair County

The 2020 Crappie USA (CUSA) Classic happens this weekend on Green River Lake when local and traveling anglers will be vying for a prize of $125,000.

Activities get started with registration and seminar today, Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Holmes Bend Marina. Anglers will sign up at registration, be given a copy of guidelines for social distancing, be given a copy of the rules, and be given their weigh-in voucher.

Fishing days are tomorrow, Friday the 23rd, and Saturday, October 24th. Fishing begins at 6:30amCT and ends at 3pmCT, with anglers required to be in the weigh-in line by 4pmCT.

Manchester Tank donates equipment to welding programs

Campbellsville, KY - "We are grateful for the chance to work with the fantastic team at Campbellsville University to partner in building a strong pipeline of talented future employees to work at our manufacturing facility," Jessica Largen, vice president of human resources at Manchester Tank, said at a ceremony on September 29.

Manchester Tank donated nearly $100,000 of welding equipment to the Campbellsville University and Green County ATC welding programs.

The new plant is located at 901 New Columbia Rd., Campbellsville, Ky.

Fog advisory this morning, then sunny today, high 82F

It's currently 59F at the Adair County Mesonet station. Watch out for patchy dense fog this morning. Otherwise it will be sunny today, with a high near 82F and calm wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with an overnight low around 59F, and calm wind becoming south around 6 mph after midnight.

Friday will be mostly sunny, with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and a high near 78F. Light south wind becoming southwest 5 to 9 mph in the morning.

Friday night will bring increasing clouds. Showers are likely, mainly before 1amCT. Expect an overnight low around 51F with light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph after midnight.

COVID-19 update: highest number of cases in one day

The Health Department reported Wednesday evening that our total case count has increased by 76 in one day - Adair: 13; Casey: 4; Clinton: 4; Cumberland: 1; Green: 5; McCreary: 3; Pulaski: 6; Russell: 9; Taylor: 23; and, Wayne: 8. Our current new case growth rate is: 1.015. This means our total case count is projected to double every 45.25 days.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 21, 2020) - Gov. Andy Beshear on Wednesday said the White House is saying Kentuckians in red or orange counties shouldn't have gatherings at all beyond their immediate families.

The Governor noted Kentucky already has guidance limiting to 10 or fewer people gatherings such as backyard barbecues and house parties, but the recommendation from the White House this week goes even further.

"There is so much spread at family gatherings, events at the house, as well as weddings and funerals," the Governor said.
