LWC Volleyball defeats IU Southeast 3-1 on Thursday

New Albany, IN - The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team closed out their fall slate of game with a 3-1 win over Indiana University Southeast on Thursday evening.

Lindsey Wilson got off to a slow start in the match falling behind by as many as seven points in the first set before leveling the match at 12. From there the Blue Raiders took an 18-14 lead before ultimately taking the set 25-19.



The Blue Raiders managed a lead until late in the second frame when IUSE took their first lead at 21-20. The Grenadiers would score the final four of five points in the set to level the match at 1-1.

The third set was a back and forth affair as the squads traded blows. The set features nine ties and five lead changes all the way to a 19-19 deadlock. LWC rattled off the final six straight points to take the set 25-19.

Lindsey Wilson trailed just one time in the early stages of the fourth set before taking control of the match. LWC built as many as an eight-point lead at 18-10. The Blue Raiders ultimately took the set 25-17 and the match 3-1.

Offensively, Lindsey Wilson managed a .159 hitting percentage while limiting IU Southeast to a .071 mark. LWC held a slight 49-45 advantage in kills as they managed to force the Grenadiers into 32 attack errors.

Camryn Rich spearheaded the Blue Raiders winning effort finishing with a double-double - 33 assists and 17 digs - all while adding nine kills. Alexis Smith led the offensive attack managing a match-high 15 kills while Alix Stoermer also finished in double-digits at 10. Lauren Larzelere tallied a team-high 27 digs.

The Blue Raiders next match is on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, when they welcome Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) to Biggers Sports Center. The match kicks off Mid-South Conference play.
