Campbellsville University sets new online enrollment record By Ariel C. Emberton Campbellsville, KY - In the last two weeks, and for the first time in her history, Campbellsville University has surpassed online enrollment of 1,500 students for the upcoming fall semester, according to Trevor McWhorter, director of online enrollment. "The online team is proud to offer ease of access, affordability and academic rigor to over 1,500 fully-online students enrolled at Campbellsville. With 53 fully-online programs and counting, I look forward to seeing this growth continue," McWhorter said. McWhorter said with the semester starting Sept. 3, two weeks later than normal, numbers are higher than what they would have normally been. "This is another key benchmark and milestone in our online education platform," he said. "Online education is rapidly growing as more and more students seek higher education options that allow them to keep their jobs, work around their busy schedules and manage family responsibilities," Dr. Shane Garrison, vice president for enrollment services and professor of educational ministries, said. During the stop Deputy Keith developed probable cause to suspect the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. CPE study: Dual credit up 75%, driving student success By Sue Patrick The number of Kentucky high school students enrolling in dual credit courses has soared more than 75% in recent years, helping to improve grades and shore up college persistence, particularly among low-income students. Those findings are part of a new report - released today - from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, which measured the impact of dual credit on student success at the state's public, four-year universities. It is the first comprehensive study on the topic since Kentucky launched a statewide dual credit policy and scholarship program in 2016 to improve participation. Governor extends Ernst & Young contract for unemployment By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen Gov. Beshear announced on Tuesday he again is extending Ernst & Young's contract, which began in July, to help process unemployment insurance claims. "Today, I'm announcing we will extend our partnership with EY through the end of the year," the Governor said. "As a reminder, EY is one of the big four accounting and consulting firms and has significant experience in unemployment insurance claims. The firm has helped other states with UI problems and has the personnel, skill, experience and resources to help Kentucky get the job done." Gov. Beshear said that in nine weeks, EY helped Kentucky process more than 141,000 claims. By extending the contract through the end of the year, the Governor said officials expect to get through about 70,000 disputed claims awaiting adjudication. Gov. Beshear was joined by Amy Cubbage, deputy secretary of the Labor Cabinet, who provided further details.
