Phillip Coffey writes of his Aunt Margie and family

Margie Coffey is honored for her hard work and dedication to her family, to the genealogy department of the Adair County Public Library and as an active member of the Adair County Retired Teachers Association.

By Phillip Coffey, nephew
and recipient of Aunt Margie's giving, caring love

On the 68th Anniversary of Aunt Margie Burris Coffey and my late Uncle Raymond Coffey, I'm thinking of them and also of Aunt Margie's 89th birthday coming up on February 28th.

They were married February 21, 1952 on my elder sister Margaret's third birthday. I don't think it set too well with the three year old for a spell. Margie had taken her Dad's youngest Brother from the brood and she feared she might loose the attentive spell she had cast on him to another.

Of course Margaret soon learned this wasn't happening.

Letter: Theory about the natural art discovery

Billy Joe Fudge writes:
Linda, could it be that, just maybe your work of art is really an offspring of the feared "Big Mouthed Sycamorasauras"? After all the Sycamorasauras was found right near Green River in the Little Cake vicinity. Little "Art" may have fallen in and washed down stream during all the recent rains. --BJF

By Rodney Smith, pastor, Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church
And father of Elizabeth Smith

Just wanted to pass along another prayer request on behalf of our precious Elizabeth.

We have met with several doctors today and have discussed the possibility of our baby bidding goodbye to this current situation of pain and sorrow, and trading it in on a wonderful, beautiful, place the Lord has created for all of those that love Him.

Gov. Beshear Signs Senate Bill 8 into law

By Crystal Staley/Sebastian Kitchen

Frankfort, KY - In an effort to better protect children at schools throughout the Commonwealth, Gov. Andy Beshear signed the school safety measure Senate Bill 8 into law Friday.

"As a parent and as your governor, I want Kentuckians to know that I see the safety of our families and children as my top responsibility," Gov. Beshear said. "I am taking the steps to protect our children in schools - to ensure that the next time an armed individual enters a Kentucky school, there is a sworn law enforcement officer there, armed and well-trained. We're going to give them the tools they need to stop the worst of the worst."

The bill, which received bipartisan support among state lawmakers, passing the Senate 34-1 and the House 78-8, requires the sworn law enforcement officers already serving in Kentucky schools, in accordance with the passage of SB 1 in 2019, to be armed and requires standards for security and training.
