Boil Water Advisory issued for Montpelier Road area Columbia/Adair Utilities District January 18, 2020 As of 6:00 p.m. on January 18, 2020 a boil water advisory is in effect for consumers from 61 Montpelier Road to 1533 Montpelier Road, Harlan Brown Road, Keen Wilson Road and Combest Drive. The advisory has been issued due to main line leak. Following such an event, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply therefore the boil water advisory has been issued as a precautionary measure. Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using. LWC Women defeat Cumberlands 79-68 in MSC action By Anthony Latessa The No. 12-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team picked up a 79-68 Mid-South Conference victory over (RV) Cumberlands (KY) Saturday at Biggers Sports Center. The Blue Raiders (16-3, 5-1 MSC) were led by Maleigha Oldham who scored a career-high 28 points while surpassing career-highs in field goals (10) and in made three-pointers with four. Lindsey Wilson had three other players reach double figures in the game. Jynea Harris recorded her third double-double of the season scoring 16 points while grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds. J'Nayah Hall scored 15 points while Reagan Turner her second double-double this season totaling 13 points with a career-high 11 rebounds. Lindsey Wilson shot 39.5 percent from the field while Cumberlands (15-4, 3-3 MSC) shot 48.2 percent. The Blue Raiders outrebounded the Patriots 45-34 and held a 32-26 advantage in points in the paint. Morning guest at Town Creek - Great Blue Heron By Linda Waggener Right before the rain started, on this misty Saturday morning, a great Blue Heron swept past my window to the little Town Creek that flows through the yard. He landed and marched to the pool that forms around the root formations under the ancient Catalpa tree, the giving tree, that has leaned a little closer to the bank on the opposite side of the creek while serving as a play place for the children and pets of East Fortune Street over the last half century. He posed, quiet and still for a moment as he scanned the pool. Then he began a slow walk up the creek toward John and Missy Arnold's fence, gazing around as he moved ever so lightly. LWC Basketball to host Cumberlands today By Brady Budke The men's basketball team (receiving votes in national poll) and women's basketball team (ranked No. 12 in national poll) continue conference play this afternoon at Biggers Sports Center facing Cumberlands (Ky.) beginning at 2pmCT with the women's matchup followed by the men's matchup at 4 p.m. CT.
