Oil well brought in on Lasley farm in Adair County T & B Drilling, brothers Terry and Billy Withers, and their partners John and Bill Burness have brought in a huge oil well, the second one hit on the Lasley/Graves farm, in the Flatwoods area of Adair County between Columbia and Sparksville, KY. Cheers reportedly broke out around 4:30pmCT Tuesday, January 7, 2020 when oil shot out of the well. Bobby Withers and others standing by made videos showing the wonder of it all. In November of last year the first well was brought in on this same property and is producing strongly. ACSO: Liberty Road single-vehicle accident By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, January 8, 2019, around 3:30amCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to a single vehicle accident with injury. A preliminary investigation determined that a 2008 Chrysler was west bound, operated by Nelson Burton, 30, of Columbia. Burton lost control of his vehicle, skidding sideways off the roadway. The vehicle then struck a tree on the driver's side, and then an earth embankment on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle came to rest upright in a creek. Burton was air lifted from the scene by Air Evac to University of Kentucky Hospital for his injuries. Deputy Derek Padgett is the investigating officer. Conservation award available for a Kentucky farmer By Sean Southard Frankfort, KY - Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Ryan Quarles is encouraging Kentucky farm families to consider submitting nominations for the Leopold Conservation Award. Given in honor of renowned conservationist Aldo Leopold, the $10,000 award honors Kentucky farmers and other private landowners who voluntarily demonstrate outstanding stewardship and management of natural resources. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture contributes $3,000 toward the award with money from the Ag Tag Fund, which is funded by voluntary donations from farmers when they buy or renew their farm vehicle license plates. Nominations must be postmarked by April 1, 2020, and mailed to Leopold Conservation Award, c/o Franklin County Conservation District, 103 Lakeview Court, Frankfort, KY 40601.
