Car thieves strike in multi-county holiday spree By Denis House, The Kentucky Standard From Oldham County to Hardin County, several vehicles were broken into leading up to Christmas, and law enforcement agencies believe the crimes are connected. The latest in a series of break-ins happened in Nelson County in the Louisville Road area of Cox's Creek, where thieves broke into 14 vehicles on Dec. 23. This comes on the heels of 25 vehicles in Elizabethtown on Dec. 22 and seven more in Mount Washington on Dec. 19. Other break-ins have occurred in Radcliff and Louisville. Lexington boxer credits faith as she enters pros By Morgan Eads, Lexington Herald-Leader After winning her first professional fight in the first round, there's no denying that Lexington boxer Samantha "Sammy" Kinchen has power in the ring. The trick, her coach says, is training her to rein in that power. During a training session at HITS Fitness in Lexington this month, Kinchen's coach, James Doolin, reminded the 24-year-old that she's trying to be a 10-round fighter. As she launched one blow after another into Doolin's mitts, he told her she'd "die in six" if she didn't learn to save her power for the right punches. ACSO: Injury collision on Cane Valley Road By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Friday, December 27, 2019, at 3:11pmCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office received a call from Adair 911 to respond to the the 3000 block of Cane Valley Road to a reported vehicle versus semi collision. Preliminary investigation shows that Jason Paul Jones, Jr., was traveling north on Cane Valley Road. Evidence at the scene indicates he topped a rise that had a slight curve on the wrong side of roadway. Unit 2, a combination vehicle, had pulled from a private drive and was going south on Cane Valley Road. Unit 1 slid approximately 294 feet on the roadway before striking the trailer of Unit 2. The operator of Unit 1, Jason Paul Jones, was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department. He was then treated on scene and transported to Somerset airport, due to weather, where he was airlifted to University of Kentucky. His passenger, Cameron Carson, was transported to TJ Health of Columbia, where he was later transferred by EMS to University of KY as well. The operator of unit 2, Edward Hughes, was not injured in the collision.
