ACSO: Injury collision on Cane Valley Road

By Sheriff Josh Brockman
Adair County Sheriff's Office

On Friday, December 27, 2019, at 3:11pmCT, the Adair County Sheriff's Office received a call from Adair 911 to respond to the the 3000 block of Cane Valley Road to a reported vehicle versus semi collision.

Preliminary investigation shows that Jason Paul Jones, Jr., was traveling north on Cane Valley Road. Evidence at the scene indicates he topped a rise that had a slight curve on the wrong side of roadway.

Unit 2, a combination vehicle, had pulled from a private drive and was going south on Cane Valley Road.

Unit 1 slid approximately 294 feet on the roadway before striking the trailer of Unit 2.

The operator of Unit 1, Jason Paul Jones, was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Columbia-Adair County Fire Department. He was then treated on scene and transported to Somerset airport, due to weather, where he was airlifted to University of Kentucky. His passenger, Cameron Carson, was transported to TJ Health of Columbia, where he was later transferred by EMS to University of KY as well.

The operator of unit 2, Edward Hughes, was not injured in the collision.

The collision was investigated by Deputy Chandler Staten, who was assisted by Sheriff Josh Brockman. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision, and all parties involved were wearing seatbelts.

Agencies responding included the Adair County Sheriff's Office, Adair County EMS, Columbia-Adair County Fire Department, and Constable Jason Rector.
