Cakes and sweets fundraiser for Youth Travel Girls Basketball

The 4-5th grade Youth Travel Girls Basketball Team is having a bake sale at the Columbia WalMart tomorrow, Saturday, August 31, 2019.

It will begin around 8amCT and continue until all items are sold.

We will have several layered cakes - coconut sour cream, chocolate and honeybun, also peach pound cake, pies, cookies, brownies, pumpkin roll, banana nut bread, strawberries in the snow and more.

Please come out and support these young kids.

Local artists work now on display at Lucretia Begley Gallery

The Adair County Arts Council exhibit of works by local artists is underway in the Lucretia C. Begley Gallery in the Slider Humanities Center on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College.

Works included are by artists: Darlene Campbell, Linda Cundiff, Cayce Davenport, David Goguen, Victoria Harp, Jennifer Jimtnez, Dr. Kyle Mann, Joy McAlpine, Cora Renfro, Dwight Renfro, Renee Renfro, Elizabeth Rexroat, Rachel M. Roberts, Gerri Reynolds, Karen L. Roland, Tim Smith and David Waltz.

Artist Nadia Molugova to visit CU

Campbellsville, KY - Nadia Molugova, founder and director of the Florence Classical Arts Academy and the New Renaissance Foundation in Florence, Italy, will visit Campbellsville University September 2-5, 2019, and will give two public presentations on September 3 and 4, 2019.

Molugova will lead a painting workshop on campus free of charge Tuesday, September 3 from 2pmET until 4pmET. This workshop will be in the Susan Kirkland Tesseneer Art Studio, 201 University Drive, Campbellsville.

Molugova will speak in The Gheens Recital Hall, located in Gosser Fine Arts Center, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, at 3:30pmET on Wednesday, September 4 2019, with a reception to follow in The Pence-Chowning Art Gallery, across the street from the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

William Morse, associate professor of art at Campbellsville University, said, "All are welcome to attend all of these events."

Beautiful weekend, slight chance of a storm, high 86F

It's currently 61F at the Adair County Mesonet station. It will be sunny today, with a high near 86F and calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the morning. The National Weather Service in Louisville is cautioning of a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and into the evening.

Tonight will be mostly clear, with a low around 64F and calm wind.

Sunny skies are in the forecast all Labor Day weekend, with highs in the upper 80's, and overnight lows in the mid-60's.

LWC Football opens season with win in the Battle of Hwy 55

The Lindsey Wilson football team defeated Campbellsville University 40-24 in the Battle of Highway 55 on Thursday night at Blue Raider Stadium on the campus of Linsey Wilson College.

The Blue Raiders (1-0, 1-0 MSC) finished with 412 yards of total offense - 269 through the air and 143 on the ground - to win their seventh straight season opener. LWC wins the Battle of Highway 55 fourth consecutive time and the fifth of their last seven against their MSC foe.

Campbellsville (0-1, 0-1 MSC) finished the contest with 390 yards of total offense as three turnovers plagued their offensive efforts.

Congratulations to Donald and Francine Neat

Donald and Francine Humphress Neat are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Friday, August 30, 2019. They united in marriage at Christie Chapel church in Knifley, Kentucky, on this date in 1969. Two daughters were later added to their marriage: Erin Bonta and husband James of Greensburg and Keri Willis and husband Matthew of Columbia.

Don and Fran are blessed with 6 grandchildren: Will, Whitley, and Waylon Bonta as well as Samuel, Mattie, and Warren Willis. Since retiring from the Adair County school system, they both enjoy participating in various outdoor adventures, planning NinaPapa camp for the grandchildren, and above all else, serving their Lord Jesus Christ.

Caregivers lunch meeting is Wednesday, 4 September 2019

The Adair County Caregivers Support Group will hold its first meeting of the fall season on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at 11amCT at the Extension Office, 409 Fairground Street, Columbia, KY.

If you share in the care for another person and could use helpful information about services available in the area, this is a good hour for you.

A light lunch is served and it is free and open to the public.
