Remembering sisters Geniece and Daisy

2019-05-28 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Each spring we always celebrate the loves-me, loves-me-not field daisies and at the same time we celebrate Mom's sister by that name who was a teacher, mentor and protector to her curious little sister Geniece. Both are gone now so I celebrate the flowers and the memories of the sisters with Daisy's daughter, my cousin Patti. - LW

Tomahawk documentary nearing completion

By Randy Patrick, The Kentucky Standard

The brave men of the 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery of the Kentucky National Guard who fought NVA forces on Tomahawk Hill on June 19, 1969, have been remembered in books, newspaper articles and television news segments about the war in Vietnam, but they have not had a movie made about them -- until now.

John Coulter of Bardstown, director and producer of independent films "The Old Winter" and "The Private," and his assistant producer, Ashley Glass of Tunnel Mill Pictures, are working with historian Gilly Simpson on a documentary about those soldiers and that battle, in which 14 Americans gave their lives, five of them from the Bardstown-based unit.
