Priscilla Alexander, age 76 of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Bowling Green. Funeral Service Sunday, May 05, 2019 at 1pmCT at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery.

She was born on May 10, 1942 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Golda Grider Carey and Stanley Goodin. She was a longtime community activist, was a former employee of Firestone, and had fostered and helped many children in the area.

Ramirez shuts out CU to send LWC Softball to MSC finals

Bowling Green, KY - Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson softball punched its ticket to the Mid-South Conference Tournament championship game with a 3-0 win over second-seeded Campbellsville University today at the Michael O. Buchanan Park.

With the win, the Blue Raiders (45-2) are the lone remaining team unbeaten in the tournament. Lindsey Wilson returns to action at NoonCT on Monday, May 6, against the team that emerges from the consolation bracket.

The funeral service for O. D. Miller will be held at 1pmCT on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Phillip Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Crockett Cemetery.

J.R. Bowen, 88, Campbellsville, KY (1930-2019)

He was a caring husband, loving father, and proud PaPaw. J.R. was a humble leader, trusted counselor, and a teacher to all who wished to learn.

J.R. Bowen of Campbellsville passed away at 6:00 P.M., Thursday, May 2, 2019 in Louisville. He was 88 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 3pmET on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY, with Rev. John Hall and Rev. Troy Elmore officiating.

Burial will follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is requested from 4pmET until 8pmET on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.

Smoke on the Mountain for special performance at HGR

Update: The Saturday, May 25, 2019 performance at Homeplace on Green River has been cancelled.

TheatreFest!, the summer theatre at Lindsey Wilson College, will present the gospel musical Smoke on the Mountain on Saturday, May 25 at Homeplace on Green River, 5807 New Columbia Rd, Campbellsville, KY 42718.

The play - which is directed by Artistic Director of TheatreFest!, Robert Brock with music direction by Associate Artistic Director, Jeremy Cloyd - will be performed at 5pmCT/6pmET.

Smoke on the Mountain takes place on a Saturday night in June 1938 in the sanctuary of the Mount Pleasant Church in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina. The Sanders Family Singers are performing for the first time after a five-year hiatus from the gospel-singing circuit. The family of six have more than their share of testimonials to share with audiences from any background.

Springfield woman accused of murder goes on trial Monday

A Springfield woman accused of murdering a Logan County man will face a jury Monday, May 6 in Logan Circuit Court.

Margie J. Johnson was indicted July 20, 2018, in connection with the death of 80-year-old Carl Hodges of Auburn. According to a police report, Johnson failed to yield at a stop sign in May striking Hodges' vehicle which was traveling on the 68-80 Bypass.

Flags to half-staff Monday in honor of soldier killed in Iraq

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Matt Bevin has directed that U.S. and Kentucky flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Monday, May 6, 2019, in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died in Iraq while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.

According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Ryan Dennis Orin Riley, 22, of Richmond, Kentucky, died April 20, 2019 in Ninawa Province, Iraq, in a non-combat related incident.

Christine Edwards Cochran, 87, Liberty, KY (1931-2019)

She was a daughter of the late George and Janie Brown Edwards.

Christine Edwards Cochran of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at her home. She was 87 years of age.

Funeral services are 1pmCT on Monday, May 6, 2019, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville St, Liberty, KY. Burial will follow in Caney Fork Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from NoonCT until 1pmCT on Monday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the White's Chapel Cemetery, Old Columbia Road, Russell Springs, Kentucky.

There will be no visitation.

DAV Service Officer visit, Mon 6 May 2019

On Monday, 6 May, 2019, the DAV Service Officer will be at the Columbia VFW Post 6097 located at 500 Greenhills Rd, Columbia, KY. He will be there to assist with any VA claims any veteran might have.

Assistance will be from 0800 to 1000 Hrs CDT and is on a first come, first served basis.

Bring any previous paper work from the VA or if applying to admittance to VA you MUST bring a copy of you DD-214.
