Homeplace summer schedule opens April 13 The Shakespeare in the Barn season opens April 13 with The Gospel of John By George Kolbenschlag The 2019 Homeplace on Green River Shakespeare in the Barn season will open April 13 with Robert Brock telling the story of the Gospel of John. Brock presents the Gospel as a storyteller, which is how early Christians shared the Bible in an age where manuscripts were hand-written, and most people could not read. There is no ticket charge to see and hear Brock's performance, but there will be an opportunity to donate to help cover the cost of production and building maintenance. The performance will begin at 6pmCT/7pmET. Mr. Glen Canada of Campbellsville passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at his home. He was 81 years old. 2019-2020 Adair County Preschool Registration By Ruth Ann Lewis Registration for Adair County Preschool will be held on Friday, March 29, 2019, from 8amCT until 2pmCT in the Adair County Library Basement, 307 Greensburg St, Columbia, KY (please use basement side entrance). Preschool is for children who will be 3 and 4 years old by August 1st. All children will be screened at a later date. A 3 year old will be accepted if they have a delay only and 4 year old will be accepted if they have a delay or are income eligible. Children do not have to be present for registration. Please bring proof of household income, such as w-2 forms, 2018 taxes, pay stubs, etc. The earlier you register, the sooner you will know if your child qualifies. Hemp's economic impact showed explosive growth in 2018 By Sean Southard Frankfort, KY - Kentucky Commissioner of Agriculture Ryan Quarles announced today that sales of Kentucky hemp products in 2018 were more than 3 times higher than the previous year and that the amount that farmers were paid for their harvests more than doubled. "When I became Commissioner of Agriculture, I promised to make Kentucky the epicenter of hemp production in the United States," Commissioner Ryan Quarles said. "Look at us now. We are building the critical mass of growers, processors, and researchers that will ensure the hemp industry's success in Kentucky for years to come." Hemp processors reported $57.75 million in gross product sales last year, according to a Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) review of 2018 hemp licensed processor reports.
