Joyce Lee Hancock-Devore, 84, Metcalfe County, KY native

She was a devoted wife to Ron Devore who survives. She was a lovely person who was a true friend to all.

Joyce Lee Hancock-Devore, age 84 of Cave City, KY departed this life on Tuesday November 13, 2018 at her home.

Funeral services were held November 16, 2018 at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Well-known Metcalfe County, KY Veteran Ron Devore has lost his special lady, Joyce Lee Hancock-Devore, who passed from this life on Tuesday November 13, 2018 at their home. Joyce was a lovely person, devoted to him and the family and a true friend to all. Funeral services were held November 16, 2018 at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. This photo is from an event she attended with him where he was honored for his service in the Korean War.

Campbellsville University announces $61.1 million goal met

3trees Pastor Eric Gilbert praised the efforts of Dr. Michael V. Carter, president, and the university for their persistence and for being “more bold with the gospel than most churches.”

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – “One thing I appreciate about Dr. Carter is that he’s not normal. Not many people set a goal of $61.1 million and accomplish it,” said Eric Gilbert, pastor of 3trees Church at Campbellsville University’s 39th Annual President’s Club Dinner.

LWC women's soccer defeats Aquinas 2-0 in NAIA 1st round

The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Aquinas (Mich.) 2-0 during the 2018 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship Opening Round at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Lindsey Wilson advance to advances to 2018 NAIA National Championship Second Round at the final site in Orange Beach, Alabama where they will face the winner of No. 7 Georgia Gwinnett and Columbia (MO) on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018.

KSP: Adair County injury collision

Trooper Daniel Forbis is investigating a two-vehicle collision that occurred November 16th, 2018 at approximately 8:29amCT in the limits of Columbia at the intersection of North KY 55 and the Veteran's Memorial Highway.

Charles Shirley, age 75, of Columbia, was traveling south on KY 55 in a 2005 GMC truck. Shirley was slowing down for a red light when his vehicle was struck in the back by a 2015 Chevy Tahoe being operated by Brandy Hancock, age 40, of Greensburg. Both occupants were wearing a seat belt.

Shirley was treated and released from TJ Health Columbia Hospital. Trooper Forbis was assisted at the scene by Adair County EMS.

A busy day for Lindsey Wilson sports

Wrestling: The Lindsey Wilson wrestling team hits the road for the eighth annual Lindenwood Open on Saturday, November 17 in St. Charles, Missouri at Hyland Arena, 209 S Kings Highway, Saint Charles, MO. The Lindenwood Open will feature 15 NCAA Division I, six NCAA Division II, 11 NAIA and five junior college teams at this weekend's tournament. Wrestling is schedule to begin at 9amCT.

Soccer: The No. 7-seeded Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team is set to host Madonna (MI) in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Opening Round at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY, at 2pmCT on Saturday, November 17, 2018.

Soccer: The Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team hosts Aquinas (MI) in the 2018 NAIA Women's National Championship Opening Round at 11amCT on Saturday, November 17 at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY.

Basketball: The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team hits the road to face Talladega (AL) on Saturday at 3pmCT at Talladega University, 627 Battle Street W, Talladega, AL.

LWC wins 95-68 in Campbellsville Classic opener

The Lindsey Wilson men's basketball team defeated Philander-Smith (AR) 95-68 in their first game of the Campbellsville Classic on Friday night.

The Blue Raiders are back in action Saturday at 6pmCT for day two of the Campbellsville Classic when they take on Oakwood at the Powell Athletic Center, 203 Tiger Way, Campbellsville, KY.

New KY University-Technology-Commercialization initiative

Commonwealth Commercialization Center (C3) to increase economic impact of work across state's higher education system

Frankfort, KY - Gov. Matt Bevin today announced formation of the Commonwealth Commercialization Center (C3), a national-model partnership between Kentucky's universities and colleges to translate intellectual property and innovations into market-ready products and startups while providing businesses access to collective public resources.

Led by the Cabinet for Economic Development's KY Innovation office, the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville, C3 will provide resources to all the state's public universities and colleges. Faculty and students at Kentucky institutions will have access to shared services including identification, development, marketing and protection of intellectual property, increased industry engagement and student experiential learning and workforce development. The program will also foster interstate collaboration to form a regional commercialization corridor. C3 will be funded in part through a $1.2 million grant from KY Innovation.
