Paz-Holley Project update: Home total flies past $100,000!!

That leaves a remaining balance now under $8,000 to buy the house valued at $318,000, for the price Adanta has offered of $108,000. That's the goal so ten children and their parents can spend Thanksgiving 2018 in a home that fits their number.

By Linda Waggener

J.O.Y. Ministries Treasurer Maggie Coleman began this day, August 9, 2018, with a report that, "the Paz-Holley total is at $100,785..." -- amazing! That leaves a remaining balance now of only $7,215 to buy the house, valued at $318,000, for the price Adanta has offered of $108,000. The goal is to bring the family of 12 into their right-size home by Thanksgiving -- and it is a vision that is becoming much more focused every time someone gives a gift, large and small, one brick at a time.

Von Flatt Price remembers 'Mr. Rollin', a true gentleman

Von Price writes:
So sad to hear of "Mr Rollin" passing. That is what most everyone referred to him as. Just a show of respect for him. My brother worked for him at the Service Station on Campbellsville Street.

He was always a true Southern Gentleman. Treated everyone with respect. My heart goes out to the Family. And may God give them Peace and Comfort at this difficult time.

Also being an Adair County High School Graduate and I remember Harry, Jerry and Shelia from there. And seeing Mr Rolin celebrate his many birthdays that Shelia would post and the joy and such happiness in his face with his Grandchildren and many great grandchildren at those wonderful birthdays.

Rest In Peace "Mr Rollin" job well done! - Von Price Englewood, Florida

Carol Perkins: Give child time to play after school

BACK TO SCHOOL ADVICE FOR TEACHERS & PARENTS: "Students love action. I want my grandchildren to have those teachers in every class. Spontaneous and unpredictable but organized! I think of the little fellows getting off their buses and hope they are facing a kind teacher with some lively blood. (Maybe a transfusion could help those who have lost the spark.) Teaching is hard but going to school is harder. The day goes by faster if no one is watching the clock!" - CAROL PERKINS
Next earlier Carol Perkins column: Carol Perkins: Growing tomatoes an adventure

By Carol Perkins

Don't ever think that your child has had an easy day just because he has been in school (doing nothing I've heard adults say) For over six hours (if you don't count the time on a bus), he (she) has been confined. When he gets home please give him some time to play or relax or do nothing. If he has a massive amount of homework (which causes fights and friction) then that needs to happen after a little down time. Think about yourself. If you bring work home from your job, you want to have a cup of coffee, watch the news, mow the yard, or sit in a chair before facing it again. You might even want to talk to your family!
