(Ad) Philip Nafziger, (R) for Adair Co. Magistrate District 3

2018-05-06 - District 3, Adair County, KY - Photo Campaign photo from candidate, Philip Nafziger (8-10p).
It is time for a change, for younger,
more energetic leadership in Adair Co.

To the Voters of Adair County

My name is Philip Nafziger and I am a candidate for the Republican nomination for Magistrate in District 3.

My wife Marijah and I have three children, a daughter, Fia (4) and two sons, David (2) and Judah (2 months). (In Photo)

We are Adair Countians by choice and we have made our home here long enough to know that this is where we intend to stay.

I am the owner of Sustainable Solutions Inc., and the general manager of Mercy Lane Constructions Roofing Division. I am experienced at managing projects and people to complete what needs to be done, on time, under budget and with lasting quality to please my custumers and keep them coming back.

I am building my own business and it is important to me that this county fosters a business-friendly atmosphere without losing the family friendly feeling we all know and love.

I am proud to be a millennial and I think it is high time to bring the positive side of my generation to the table: unwavering, tenacious determination to move mountains if that is what is required.

I have enough sense to realize that I do not know everything but that is exactly why we all need each other! I believe that our energy coupled with wisdom, work ethic and discipline can bring lasting, positive progress to Adair County.

I do believe that it is time for a change: for younger, more energetic leadership in Adair County.

EVERY VOTE COUNTS and I humbly ask for your vote in the Republican primary for Magistrate, District 3, which includes the precincts of South Columbia-Harmony & Glensfork-Melson Ridge, on Tuesday, May 22nd, 2018.

Join with me by reaching out and sharing your ideas. Let's build something together. Cell (270) 250-4048 - Email: Philipnafziger@gmail.com

Jean Cravens shares memories of the 40s

Jean is one of the best story tellers in the world. A natural. We all ought to be writing down every memory she has. Today, one day after her 88th birthday, she shares a few of them on a lot of subjects: Home made "10-below" ice cream in ice cube trays. Favorite teachers - Gender inequities, and finding reverse. A country compliment. And Arthur Lee's slippery taffy. -- Ed Waggener
Click on headline for complete story

By Wilma Jean Waggener Cravens

We didn't have a lot of ice cream when I was growing up on Jamestown Street. Rarely was it from the store, even then. Mom would make it at home.

I remember she would buy a mix - I think it was called "10-Below"- and stir it into milk, then pour it into one or two of those aluminum ice trays, which I think came with the Frigidaire, with the pull handles, which did a fair job of separating the cube. The cubes of ice cream would be served in small dessert cups. I think we had one or two cubes for a serving as dessert or as a mid afternoon snack. At the time, it tasted as good as any ice cream I've since eaten.

The coming week, May 7-11, is national Teacher Appreciation Week. I would be remiss not to thank all the wonderful men and women who greatly influenced my life from the fronts of classrooms from 1965 through, well, the present year.

Sparksville Grade Center replaced one and two room schools in the southern portion of Adair County. With the coming of summer, 1965, I found myself a kindergarten student there, and immediately after in the first grade classroom of one of the sweetest ladies, Mrs. Edra Sparks Page. We all loved "Miss Edra"!

Mark Hale inspired to borrow DeLorean from Air & Space Academy

Comments re photo 78572 ACHS Air Space Academy students pass written pilots exam

Mark Hale writes:
Congrats to the two ACHS scholars. Was wondering if the used a DeLorean to go Back To The Future as the article stated they took the test in 2040. Would like to borrow the car and the flux capacitor for a short period. Just long enough to get the Power Ball and Mega Millions jackpot numbers for next week. Will pay a nominal fee for its use. - Mark Hale
Thanks, Mark - Wonderful idea. Just remember that the next week is PTA Teacher Appreciation Week and donate a few million to the academy or your favorite teacher. Thanks for the wonderfully imaginative reminder to correct it, which was done before posting. (By the way, the typo was made here at CM - the main article submitted to the academy had the correct year.) - EW
