He was a retired fork lift operator for Carrier Corporation in Indianapolis, Indiana with forty-three years of service. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. He was a member of a respected Cumberland County, KY, family. He was the son of the late Clury & Letha Wells Spears. He leaves 14 direct living descendants.

Thomas Hulse Wilcoxson, Jr., Green County, KY (1932-2018)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Free Bethel General Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran and a farmer. He was the patriarch of a large, respected family. He was the son of the late Thomas Hulse Wilcoxson, Sr. & Beatrice Lemmons Wilcoxson. His wife Geneva Lobb Wilcoxson survives.

Bullitt Co. man indicted for allegedly soliciting sex from children

Beshear's office received information from public on defendant, who now faces 15-count indictment. Over the past two years, the number of arrests, indictments and convictions by Beshear's cyber investigators has reached historic levels, totaling more than 145.

Benefit for Eventis and Francis Warren

There will be a benefit at 4pmCT/5pmET, Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Old Knifley Grade Center, 12190 Knifley Road, Knifley, KY, for Eventis & Francis Warren, who lost everything in a house fire on December 31, 2017.

Adair Co. Grand Jury returns indictments 27 Feb 2018

Indictments brought against 15 individuals from Columbia, Breeding, Williamsburg, Russell Springs, Campbellsville, and Louisville, KY, on charges including possession, abuse, forgery, trafficking, bail jumping, wanton endangerment, assault and DUI.

NOTE: Indictments are considered formal charges. An indictment is not a finding of guilt. An individual charged by indictment is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.

The Adair County, KY Circuit Court grand jury, Columbia, KY, returned indictments against the following individuals on Tuesday, 27 February 2018:

Gloria Marcine Garrison, 83, Cane Valley, KY (1934-2018)

She was of the Methodist faith and a member of Pollard's Chapel United Methodist Church. She sewed elastic at Union Underwear for 13 years. Then began farming, loving to help milk and take care of baby calves. She enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of the yard work and working in her flowers. She was a member of a highly regarded family, the daughter of the late Jack & Iva Clark Wells Curl and the widow of Charles Garrison. She leaves seven direct living descendants and five step living descendants.

Tomorrow, 10 Mar 2018 is once again time for the veterans breakfast at VFW 6097, 500 Greenhills Road, Columbia, KY. Doors will open and start serving at 0700-0900 Hrs. We will have sausage, eggs, pancakes and hot coffee, OJ, milk or water.

This is our "veterans only" breakfast, as it is a time for us to visit with our comrades, and sometimes it is a chance for us to talk about things we hold in from non veterans, ever our close family members. We will politely ask any non veteran to leave.

Bam Carney helps get Holocaust education bill through House

Bill passes House 94-1

Frankfort, KY - Public middle and high schools across Kentucky would be required to teach their students about the Holocaust and other internationally-recognized acts of genocide under a bill which has passed the state House.

The legislation is House Bill 128, sponsored by Rep. John Carney, R-Campbellsville, and Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, D-Louisville. It was championed this session by eighth-grade students and their teachers from the private St. Francis of Assisi School in Louisville, many of whom were on the House floor when the bill was passed.

LWC Softball opens play at NFCA Tournament on Friday

The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team opens up play at the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Tournament, South Commons Softball Complex, 400 4th Street, Columbus, GA. The Blue Raiders (6-1) open the tournament on Friday, March 9, 2018, against Lawrence Tech (MI) at 9amCT and then take on (RV) Clarke (Iowa) at 11:30amCT.

On Saturday, the Blue Raiders face Lindenwood-Belleville (IL) at 9amCT and No. 8 William Carey (MS) at 2:30pmCT.

To close things out on Sunday, LWC is set to face off with No. 19 Mobile (AL) at 8amCT.

San Diego, CA and Lexington, KY (Thu 8 Mar 2018) - Multiple indictments were unsealed today, in San Diego federal court, charging more than 40 members of an international scheme with conspiring to launder millions of dollars in illegal drug proceeds. These indictments are part of a nationwide takedown stemming from a multi-year investigation led by the FBI San Diego Cross Border Violence Task Force and other federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

Community school safety forum explores wide range of issues

Supt. Pamela Stephens serves as moderator of well-attended meeting which filled half of ACHS Gymnasium. Dean of Students Robbie Harmon explained what is now and what is planned to improve school safety. Terry Partin moderated question and answer session, examining increased law enforcement presence, question of arming teachers, issue of moving Sheriff's Office to campus, use of metal detectors, how board will handle dissemination of reliable news to public rather than social media rumors, and more.

It was an exciting, well attended, hopeful meeting at Adair County High School, where thought provoking issues were discussed freely and openly.

The Thursday, March 8, 2018 community forum on school safety was opened under the leadership of Dr. Pamela Stephens, Superintendent of Adair County public schools. A crowd that filled one side of the ACHS gymnasium included family members, school leaders, counselors, and law enforcement.

Dr. Stephens called attention to the student photographers working at the meeting and introduced the start of the ACHS Art Club project called #no more empty desks. The pictures taken will be used in a project to bring attention to the ongoing work of making schools more safe.

Roger Dale Harper, 70, Metcalfe County, KY (1947-2018)

He retired from Tractor Supply in Glasgow, KY, and was of the Baptist faith. He was the patriarch of a respected Metcalfe County family, the son of the late Doc & Maggie Harper. His wife, Josephine Harper, survives. He leaves seven direct living descendants. His final resting place will be at Moore Springs Cemetery.
