Each person at the community Thanksgiving luncheon was missing him. Some held him in their hearts as their husband, brother, uncle, close friend, J.B., some as their long-time pastor the Rev. Joseph B. Payne, and some who worked alongside him in the many organizations he supported as Joe.

However he's held in our hearts, the one who put it in the most understandable language was his son Jacob, who said, "I miss hearing my dad's voice. I miss being able to call up and say 'Hey Pops, how did you do that barbecue sauce?' Or, 'Hey Pops, something's wrong with my car, what should I do?' And he always helped."

JIM: Hot deals in 1957 at Columbia's White Cash & Kroger Stores

THANKSGIVING 1957 - It seems like yesterday - it just 60 years ago, when members of the ACHS class of 1958 were juniors, - when Columbia's Square had a Kroger Supermarket, where Edward D. Jones is today, and the independent supermarkets, White Cash Market, Columbia Supermarket, and Harper's Food Market (anyone remember if it was on the Well Walk, downtown?), united resources to combat the chain store.

In 1957, Kroger and the White Cash Market had these hot deals for those shopping for Thanksgiving dinner. For a close approximation of what an item would cost in today's dollars, multiply the price by 8.70.

Kentucky Life will feature direct engravings of Kathy Conroy

Exhibit will also be a Kentucky Artisan Center, Berea - a free admission Kentucky Arts center. Schedule of events, photo of imagery.

From Kentucky Artisan Center

Artist Kathy Conroy of Pleasureville, KY, will be featured on KET's program "Kentucky Life" which will air at 7pmCT/8pmET starting November 18. Conroy is a scratchboard artist who utilizes a rarely used technique to achieve highly detailed imagery.

Scratchboard is a form of direct engraving where the artist starts with a Masonite panel coated with white clay. This clay layer is covered with a thin layer of black India ink leaving the artist a solid black panel as a starting point. Lines that create the imagery are cut and scratched through the ink, to reveal the white clay surface below. Conroy then layers colors onto the exposed white clay to illustrate complex and realistic images.
