BJF: Osage Orange tree at Harrodsburg apparently a boy

writes:
Osage Orange is a dioecious species meaning that both sexes are not on the same tree. So apparently, and given that there are no extenuating circumstances with this tree, we can safely say, "he is a big ol' boy". --

Yes! Yes! Yes! Please make a readily identifiable crosswalk for the Lindsey students crossing Young Street.

Living in Green Hills and, as my neighbors will surely attest, one who makes several trips to, from and through both the Downtown Columbia and Jamestown Hill Business Districts daily; I assure you that a crosswalk needs to be established at this location.

Adair County's Forgotten Service Men: Missing from Monument

With the shattering of the tablet on the VFW War Memorial tablet, JIM sees the opportunity to right the wrongs to the Bailey, Collins, Harvey, Hurt, Keen, Garrett, Robertson, Shaw, and Wilmore families whose members made the supreme sacrifice but were not included in the original list of names.

In the spring of 1948, seven months after the installation of the War Memorial, the Adair County News noted the "The list of names on the V.F.W Memorial Marker. . .is not complete and a stone worker will be here within a month to finish the job."

The article also noted that "The V.F.W. wants names of all who lost their lives during the war correctly inscribed on the monument" with the stated objective (the added emphasis is mine) "to secure a complete and correct list for the Memorial, which is a permanent record of Adair's war dead."

J.D. GEE: A passing note on V.F.W. Hall/Post Hall

I suspect the "V.F.W. Hall" and "Post Hall" mentioned in the News from late 1949 through at least part of the 1950s was the Elmer Bryant property on Fairgrounds St. Mr. Keltner recalls, as there were frequent mentions during this time span of the Homemakers' Club meeting in the "V.F.W. Hall." J.D. Gee
