Dr. Joseph L. Owens to speak at CU Heritage Day

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - Dr. Joseph L. Owens, former chair of the Campbellsville University Board of Trustees, will be the guest speaker for the university's annual Heritage Day observance at chapel Wednesday, March 22 at 10 a.m. in Ransdell Chapel at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville.

Owens is the longest-serving chair of the board having served five terms. He has been a member of the board since 2004.

Henry Lee of Campbellsville, former president of Taylor County Bank and now a partner in Squires & Lee, PLLC, certified public accountants, became board chair in February.

Lowell Crawley, 86, Cumberland County, KY (1931-2017)

He was a member of Sexton Fork Baptist Church and a farmer. He was a native of Cumberland County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of his death. He was the son of the late Edwin Clyde & Vinnie Anderson Crawley.

Alice Jean Bowen Stanfield, 86, Taylor Co., KY (1930-2017)

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church and when she was able she was an active member of the Upper Room Sunday School Class and Susan B. Loy Circle. She was an employee of Fruit of the Loom until she retired to take care of her granddaughter. They became best of friends and spent many fun hours together. She was an avid gardener, loved being outside and spending time with her family. She was the widow of Thomas O. Stanfield, her husband of 22 years. She leaves two direct living descendants.

Update: Sun 19 Mar 2017, at 4:58pmCT: Through investigation and preliminary autopsy results, the Friday, 17 March 2017 death of Thai C.Lee (54) of Shepherdsville has been classified as a homicide investigation.

At this time no arrests have been made. Anyone with any information is asked to call KSP Post 4 at 270-766-5078 or contact your local Law Enforcement Agency. KSP Detectives are not releasing anymore information at this time pertaining to this investigation.

Hike at Lake Barkley focuses on wildflowers - Sat 8 Apr 2017

Second Saturday event

Join a naturalist at Lake Barkley State Resort Park, 3500 State Park Road, Cadiz, KY, starting at 10amCT, April 8, 2017, for the monthly Second Saturday hike. The focus of April's hike will be spring wildflowers. The hike will take visitors on a search for spring wildflowers and will teach visitors about the amazing life histories of these early bloomers.

The hike starts at 10amCT,and will depart from the lobby of the lodge. No reservations are necessary to participate in Second Saturday Hikes. Please dress for the weather. Sturdy, comfortable footwear is recommended. Contact: Nick Edmonds, nick.edmonds@ky.gov,or call the lodge at call 1-800-325-0057.

Families and individuals can enjoy other entertainment and lodging opportunities at the park. Lake Barkley State Resort Park is the largest state resort park in Kentucky and features a lodge, cottages, the Windows on the Water Restaurant, a seasonal campground, 18-hole golf course, fitness center with indoor pool, marina, fishing, tennis courts, hiking trails, gift shop, and recreational and nature programming.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team began Mid-South Conference play with a doubleheader split at Shawnee State (Ohio) on Saturday at Branch Rickey Field.

The Blue Raiders (14-12, 1-1 MSC) pounded out 15 runs on 23 hits in the 15-4 series-opening victory, but were shut out and limited to just six hits in the 5-0 nightcap loss to the Bears (6-18, 2-3 MSC).

Campbellsville Women's Basketball makes it to NAIA Fab Four

Campbellsville women's basketball is heading to its second-ever NAIA Fab Four and the second in three years after defeating No. 1-overall seed Freed-Hardeman, 73-70, on Saturday night in Billings, MT.

Emily Fox led CU with 20 points on 4-of-6 from behind the arc. She has now hit 13 3-point baskets in the tournament to lead all players. Lexxus Graham (left in photo) came off the bench and played terrific with 16 points and also hit all four 3s. Campbellsville Women's Basketball will meet Oklahoma City on Monday, March 20 at 6pmMT/7pmCT/8pmET/ at Rimrock Metrapark Arena, 308 6th Ave N, Billings, MT
