CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. -- Campbellsville University is searching for talented high school seniors to compete for two art scholarships worth a total of $6,000 each.

The university's annual art scholarship competition and workshop will be Saturday, April 1, beginning at 10:30amET in room 100 of the Art Building, 205A University Drive, Campbellsville, across from Gosser Fine Arts Center, 210 University Drive, Campbellsville, on campus.

Mr. Thomas Ed Handy, 91, Greensburg, KY (1925-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a lifelong member and trustee of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during World War II. He was a member of the James L. Pruitt Post 5813 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Greensburg, KY. He was a dedicated husband and father. He was a Kentucky Farm Bureau Director.

Visitation will be from 4pmCT until 8pmCT on Wednesday at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court St, Greensburg, KY, and then from 8amCT until the funeral hour on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church, 30 Buford Dial, Greensburg, KY. The funeral service will be at 11amCT on Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Ministers Bro. Keith Clements and Bro. Jason Shirrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.

In my generally less than humble opinion, some of the prettiest countryside in Kentucky, or most anywhere else in the world, for that matter, lies within a two mile radius of Montpelier, and it's there that I always feel more at home than any place I've ever been. The autumnal view looking south to southwest from near the intersection of Old Montpelier Road and Acree Road always brings to mind the famously attributed Daniel Boone quote: "My dear honeys, heaven is a Kentucky of a place."

Six representatives from the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative (GRREC) visited Adair County High School Tuesday for a discussion and classroom observation of the school's innovative second year program, the Air and Space Academy. Led by science teachers Matthew and Keri Willis, the academy teaches students principles of flight, engineering, aeronautics, and allows for hands-on learning opportunities like building planes and flying on a computer flight simulator.

We will be learning how to do a Mud paining art project. This is a project that the youth can enter in the Youth Floral Hall this summer. Union College basketball competing for National Title

Team has Kentucky tie. Tim Curry, Columbia native, is Union College Athletic Director

I just wanted to make you aware the Union College men's basketball team is playing for a national championship tonight, Tue 14 Mar 2017 at 6pm (CT) in Branson, Missouri. The Kentucky team from Barbourville, Kentucky competes in NAIA, Division II. The team is currently riding a 32 game winning streak and holds an overall record of 34-3. The Bulldogs are ranked #1 in the country and will face #2 Cornerstone University (34-3) in tonight's match-up. The game can be viewed on ESPN3. The team is coached by Kevin Burton, a graduate of Jessamine County High School, and Columbia native Tim Curry is the Union College Athletic Director.

Suzanne Sims Dennis, 64, White Mills, KY, formerly Columbia, KY (d. 13 Mar 2017)

She was a member of distinguished Adair County, KY, family. She was the daughter of the late Ralph & Nancy Lowe Sims. She was a native of Columbia, KY,, and a member of White Mills Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. She was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson College, Johnson Bible College, Campbellsville College, and earned her masters degree from Western Kentucky University. She was a member of the Heartland Dulcimer Club and played the piano for different churches for over 47 years. She taught school for 37 years having taught at Hodgenville Elementary, Lynnvale Elementary, and currently taught first grade at Lakewood Elementary.

Her days of wearing high heels and walking to the post office might be over. But Anne Fraim says she will always be an Eagle.

Wearing her purple and gold, as she always does, she listened as her friends and family spoke about how much they love her.

And she couldn't help but smile.

Campbellsville High School named its media center for lifetime Eagle and long-time employee and school supporter Anne Fraim on Monday, March 6.

Campbellsville High School chemistry students recently performed an experiment with pennies. CHS teacher Dee Doss asked students to determine whether their pennies were made of pure copper.

Students were given two pennies, one made before 1982 and the other made after 1982.
