Mildred Benningfield, 84, Taylor County, KY (1931-2016)

She was a member of Elkhorn United Methodist Church. She was a member of Pitman Chapter 157 Order of Eastern Star. She retired from of Fruit of the Loom after 39 years of service. She was the daughter of the late Thelbert & Virgie Hughes Gaddis. Her husband of over 68 years, Sam Benningfield, survives. She leaves eight direct living descendants.

Ruth Smith: Father helped build landmark barn

SPRINGFIELD, KY (Sun 24 Apr 2016) The 24th-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team capped off their regular season with a 9-6 loss to St. Catharine (KY) on Sunday in Springfield, KY.

Victor Nazario led the Blue Raiders (33-20, 13-8 Mid-South Conference) at the plate going 2-for-5 on the day driving in two runs. Ryan Harper was 2-for-3 at the plate and he drove in a run against the Patriots (32-19, 10-11 MSC).

Joe Collins, Jason Rector, Adair County Republican Chairman Shannon Rowe and Columbia Mayor Curtis Hardwick were voting delegates at the 2016 Republican Party of Kentucky State Convention held Saturday April 23,2016 at Lexington Convention Center.

Guest speakers included U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell, Governor Matt Bevin, Kentucky Ag Commissioner Ryan Quarles and Congressman Andy Barr. Over 600 delegates statewide were in attendance for the convention. - Shannon Rowe

She was a homemaker, and the daughter of the late Osco Bell and the late Pearl Craig Bell, and the widow of Vester Grider. She was born at Jamestown, KY, and was a resident of Jamestown at the time of her death. She was the matriarch of a large, respected family. She leave 41 direct living descendants to continue her legacy.

Mary Rodgers, Casey County, KY (1930-2016)

She was a cook for 39 years for the Casey County Board of Education. Mary was a member of The First Baptist Church of Liberty. She was a native of Casey County, KY and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Ruth Wilkinson Grider and the widow of Edward T. Rodgers. She leaves 22 direct living descendants spanning four generations.

ST. CATHARINE, KY - The No. 24-ranked Lindsey Wilson baseball team split a doubleheader with St. Catharine (KY) on Saturday at Edelen-Haydon Field.

The Blue Raiders (33-19, 13-7 MSC) captured the opener 2-0 on the strength of a late rally and an outstanding pitching performance, but fell 5-1 in the scheduled seven-inning nightcap to the Patriots (31-19, 9-11 MSC).

Zib Ray Smith, Metcalfe County, KY (1925-2016)

He was retired after a career as a machinist at Garrett Air Research. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was born in Good Luck, KY and died in Glasgow, KY. He was a member of Missionary Mound Baptist Church in Good Luck and his final resting place with be in the Missionary Mound Cemetery. He was the son of the late Zib and Lou Eva Word Smith. His wife of 68 years, Georgia Nell Coffey Smith, survives. He leaves one direct living descendant, a son, Eddy Ray Smith

LEITCHFIELD, KY (Sat 23 Apr 2016) - KSP Post 4 Troopers worked a quadruple fatality caused by a two vehicle head on collision in Grayson Co. on Saturday afternoon.

On April 23, 2016 KSP Post 4 received a call from the Grayson Co. dispatch asking for a KSP accident reconstructionist to respond to KY 54 about 1.5 miles West of Leitchfield in regards to a fatality accident.
