Zib Ray Smith, Metcalfe County, KY (1925-2016)

He was retired after a career as a machinist at Garrett Air Research. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was born in Good Luck, KY and died in Glasgow, KY. He was a member of Missionary Mound Baptist Church in Good Luck and his final resting place with be in the Missionary Mound Cemetery. He was the son of the late Zib and Lou Eva Word Smith. His wife of 68 years, Georgia Nell Coffey Smith, survives. He leaves one direct living descendant, a son, Eddy Ray Smith

Zib Ray Smith age 90 of Glasgow, KY, died at his home Saturday, April 23, 2016 after an illness.

Funeral services will be held 1pmCT Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with burial in the Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Tuesday, April 26, 2016, and after 9amCT, Wednesday at the funeral home.



Zib Ray Smith, Metcalfe County, KY (1925-2016)

Born in the Good Luck Community of Metcalfe County, KY May 18, 1925, he was the son of the late Zib and Lou Eva Word Smith. He died Saturday, April 23, 2016, in Glasgow, Barren County, KY, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and five days.

Mr Smith was retired from Garrett Air Research where he was a machinist. He was a World War II Army Veteran and member of the Missionary Mound Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years Georgia Nell Coffey Smith, and the following:
  • One son: Edd Ray Smith of Glasgow, KY

  • Two sister in laws: Eddie Belle Denison of Cave City, KY, and Beddie Smith of Edmonton, KY

  • Six nieces and six nephews

  • Several cousins, family and friends including his church family and neighbors

  • Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers; Carlus, Clay and Edgar Smith; two sisters Edna Smith Walbert and Mae Smith; His mother and father in law George and Vinnie Coffey.
