Scenic Taylor Co., KY: Yellow Hills

2014-05-07 - New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener. The drive from Columbia to Campbellsville on KY 55 is gorgeous this time of the year. Couldn't help but snap this the way home. Locust blossoms are a favorite of ours, and none are prettier than along this road in Adair and Taylor Counties. Nice for motorists, but there are few safe pulloffs to to take a more careful, focused aim. - CM

Epicurean Kentuckian: Need Adair Co. Egg Gravy recipe

Spring cooking

Does anybody know how to make Egg Gravy, the way people used to - may still do - in Southern Adair County?

As described to the Epicurean Kentuckian, it was made with more cornmeal than flour, milk, and salt and pepper for seasoning - maybe some secret ingredients like sausage (bet, if so, it would be great with Payne Janes Sausage or sausage Foster Graves makes at Fairplay. The eggs were scrambled in this the dish described. At least a few cooks in the Stotts family - maybe some of the Fudges and maybe others - could do it right.

We appreciate any enlightenment from readers. - EK
