Click on headline for article with large photo album
Watch for list of those in attendance to be added

By Nancy Burton

The Harmony School Reunion held on July 20, 2013 at Emory Chapel Church was a great success. Bobby D. Morrison welcomed everyone and shared the project of writing a book about the Harmony-Chance-Harvey Ridge community to leave a legacy for our children. Stories were generated and shared from former years. A Power Point presentation of old photos followed, and everyone had fun trying to put names with faces of long ago. Everyone enjoyed an afternoon snack as they continued to share pictures they had brought with them. - Nancy Burton

Sonny Vance remembers ringing The Bell

Trilby Vance writes:
Morn'n Ed, I was showing Joseph, better know as Sonny, the pics of the installation of the bell from Columbia Grade School. He said "Would you believe I've rung that bell"? I asked how old he was and he said "I don't know, probably really young, as it wouldn't be cool to ring it if you were in the 7th or 8th grade." Was the official bell ringer Joe Taylor? Wondering how many others have that special memory? - Trilby Vance

Comment: Bell Installation reminder of value in the future

Jon Halsey writes:
Looking at the series of pics of the School Bell installation I was struck by the thought of how lucky Columbians of the distant future will be.

How many times have all of us pined for names missing from old faded photographs, or an explanation of the purpose or what the picture represented and it's significance. Or even more often to read an early account and sigh: "Oh, if only there were a photo of the event."

Throughout the years you and your little modern day "Brownie" have provided a great service that I'm sure the "JIM's" of the future will celebrate as they pour over our daily foibles, heroic deeds and the more commonplace events that make us who we are. -Jon Halsey, Knifley, KY

Says change is asinine evidence of bureaucracy run amok
' . . . add in two different area codes for the same geographic area and our future will be our past when Abbot & Costello, The Three Stooges and the Marx Brothers all reigned supreme. . . ' - JON HALSEY

By Jon Halsey
Personal commentary

Well if this isn't the most asinine evidence of bureaucracy run amok!

No, we can't keep our same numbers. Even with "New Math" 10 digits DO NOT equal 7 digits. My 555-1212 number is not my number after the change, it will then be 270-555-1212. It's like saying that if my last name is Richard it will still be the same but I can't use it. I now must be known as Richardson!
