Suggest writer David Raddock give CPAP machine another try

Betsy Sharp writes:
Mr. Raddock-please do not give up on the C-Pap machine. I don't know who you got your mask from, but my husband and I got our machines and masks from Columbia Medical in Campbellsville. They have a variety of masks that you can check out and they will work with you to get it fitted correctly. I have claustrophobia and I could not handle the one I got from the hospital, it also rubbed the bridge of my nose raw, so CME fitted me with one that is much more comfortable and with nasal pillows and a comfortable headgear. Please give the CPap another chance - you will sleep better, you will feel better, and your general health will be better. - Betsy Sharp

Birds of KY: Owls - Screech and Barn are different owls

Wendy Butler Burt writes:
No, Screech Owls and Barn Owls are two very distinct species. The Barn Owl, whose population is in steep decline, is a medium sized owl, that often roosts and nests in buildings and hunts in areas cleared for agriculture. It has very long legs and a white, heart-shaped face. Its gasping screech of this owl can make your hair stand on end. The Eastern Screech Owl, on the other hand, is a very small owl with ear tufts. There are two distinct color variations -- red and gray - and it is found in many different habitats, including woodlands. Its mournful whinny-like cry, heard in many parts of Adair County, is a series of melancholy whistles that descend in pitch. Those of us fortunate enough to have resident owls on our property enjoy both their night-time call and appreciate their rodent control! - Wendy Butler Burt

Memories: Laptop is proving a better shoebox

Steve Scott writes:
My Brother and I have been working on a Celebration for Our Father's 80th Birthday. I have found that this may be a final Family Re-Union for many, and at the same time, a gathering of a 'Younger Generation' who have never met one another. Like many, our Family has scattered like birdshot on a squirrel hunt. Luckily most of the shot stayed in the Family Tree. I have also been amazed at the Freshness of memories that a shoebox of pictures and clippings can generate. i have also learned that a laptop is a better "shoebox". - Steve Scott

Poetry by Robert Stone - a sonnet for April Fool Eve

Too insistent news
- a sonnet for April Fool Eve
I do not know the why or how of love
but feel the stirrings of unshakable
desire to built beneath the stars above
a way to share through bonds unbreakable.

I do not get the where and what of hate
but suffer seeming surety of past
mistakes now apprehensions and debate
the likelihood that separations last.

I do not sense the when and who of life
but agonize that all that went before
too soon will fade away among the strife
of too insistent news of much and more.

To love, to hate, to live beyond the grave
choose pride for death, trust humble words to save.

- Robert Stone, 31 March 2013
