Says Tv Station needs to apologize if error made on assault site

Duane Bonifer, Public Relations Director for Lindsey Wilson College, in answer to a call about the writer's concern, says that assault on Dakota Meyer absolutely did not happen on the campus and that the event at which it happened, a party, was not a college sponsored event. He's already called two Tv Stations who got it wrong. Kanissa'a Thompson, the man charged is not a student at the college, either. - ED WAGGENER

This incident was reported by one of the Louisville TV stations on the late news, Wednesday, December 12th. In their report the lead-in was "Medal of Honor" recipient assaulted on a Kentucky college campus. In the broadcast they named Lindsey Wilson as the college. If, in fact, this didn't happen at Lindsey Wilson campus.....they need to retract that statement. - Donna Saunders

A Good Night to Stargaze

The sun goes down early this time of year, but the silver lining is that it makes it much easier to stargaze before bedtime. The Geminid Meteor Shower will be peaking overnight, with as many as 50-80 meteors per hour visible in some parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Check Meteor Showers Online for tips on where to look tonight to see the most activity.

Nasa.gov's Spot the Station service will send you an email or text message any time the space station is likely to be visible in your area. Tonight's flyover should be visible in central Kentucky at roughly 6:35pm. The alerts are tailored to your general location, and signing up is quick and easy.

Mema's Favorite Senior Quest joke

Sometimes, during morning reflections, we run out of Great Issues to talk about, and turn to other matters. Today, Mema remembered her favorite joke from Senior Quest magazine, one passed on to her by Cousin Andi Chelf.

Ten Dollars is Ten Dollars
From Andi Chelf

Fred and his wife Edna went to the state fair every year. Every year Fred would say, "Edna, I'd like to ride in that there airplane."

And every year Edna would say, "I know, Fred, but that airplane ride costs ten dollars, and ten dollars is ten dollars."

One year Fred and Edna went to the fair and Fred said, "Edna, I'm 71 years old. if I don't ride that airplane this year, I may never get another chance."

NEWS: The Week in CM Photos - December 5-12

New photos are added continuously, everyday to the Photo Archives
There have been 94 photos this past week on ColumbiaMagazine.com, fewer than usual, but the quality may be the best we've ever had. You be the judge. Our news photo pick of the week was the classic set of photos from the Taylor Tire Sales fire, by Larry Smith of The Big Dawg radio, 99.9 FM. It's always hard to pick.

As you peruse the photos, you can take side trips to expand the information by clicking on Read More - if you like. I think you can get back easily to your place in the archives, but as the Techno-Neophyte on the staff, I'm still learning, myself. It's one of the delights of CM, one is always finding innovative ways the site was designed to save the world's most valuable resource, people's time.

One of my own favorites was one based on context and hope for our future, the photo of the first ever ACT Scrimmage at Adair County High School. Solid affirmation of a commitment to core academics. The Events calendar for today indicates that Today will be another busy exciting day in the area. We hope you're healthy enough to Scan CM 3-4 times a day to track the essential news and then get out and be involved and enjoy. But if you have time for the ageless archives of ColumbiaMagazine.com, Take time to Peruse the last 20 sets in our Photo Archives, judge for yourself which photo is your favorite, and, if you care to comment on superlatives, and let us know with this link: Contact/Submit: My Favorite CM Photo/Photo Set of the Week Thursday, December 5-12, 2012 was - and why. As always, your feedback helps guide the way ahead. - Ed Waggener.

PS: Most Readers already know, but a reminder, most thumbnail photos in news and CM Classifieds are now usually links to a full sized photo. Clicking around on them usually gets more information, quickly, easily - and we try to make it easy, on most browsers, to return to where you were. -EW
