A big happy birthday to Dr. Phil Aaron

Von Price writes

Dr. Phil Aaron has done so much for Columbia and Adair County. He is a kind and gentle person! His father was my parents' doctor and after his passing, Dr. Phil became my mother's doctor. I will never forget the night that my mother was at the hospital and passed away 5 days later. The compassion that he showed us was unbelievable. My family (Otha & Fannie Flatt) has so many ties with the doctors of the Aaron family. When my two brothers died from an auto accident in 1960 it was Dr Phil's uncle at Hardin Memorial Hospital who was the doctor my brother had. And it was Dr. Phil's father, Dr Oris Aaron, who was my father's doctor when he passed away. I know that all of this might not be a Happy Story, but I just wanted to say "Thank you" to "Dr. Phil" and his family and how much we appreciate all they have done for our family. We wish you, Dr. Phil, a wonderful birthday, today, and many more to come. Von Price, Louisville, Ky

Mike Watson: Royse Cemetery is a beautiful one

It's one of over 400 documented cemeteries in Adair County, KY

By Mike Watson
Adair County, KY, historian

Entering the Royse Cemetery quest late, but felt I should stand up for those lying down.

The Royse Cemetery is a beautiful one, or was when I was last there in 1990 or so.

I feel it is important to note that Adair County has more than 400 documented burial grounds, or cemeteries as they must be called in modern America. When Mrs. Margie Coffey and I undertook to compile the cemeteries of the county in 1983, we believed, along with Randy Flowers and others, that we would produce enough recorded data to fill two volumes. Half a decade later, we had seven volumes of material; and one additional volume has been since produced.
