Security for President much greater now than even 16 years ago Comments re article 45798. Mayor Harris Dream President presents Dakota Meyer medal in Columbia KY Robert H. Stone writes: I was with a friend in Warm Springs, Georgia, when Clinton and many other big names came to town for the Four Freedom Awards on the Fiftieth Anniversary of Roosevelt's death, 1995. Looking back, it is amazing how little security there was compared with what would happen today. I was probably less than 500 feet from the president and I don't recall being asked any questions by anybody. Robert H. Stone, Lebanon, TNThanks. Your note reminds me of my father telling me of being in Hodgenville, KY, when the President of the United States rode past crowds in an open convertible. "I could have reached over and touch Roosevelt," he said, with the same reverence he would have had for a deity, prounouncing FDR's last name, in the custom of the day "Roo-suh-velt." Now, securityis so tight that Kathy Lee Gifford rides in a gun proof popemobile on a visit to South Park, CO - at least she did in the cartoon episode Evan let me watch this morning on an iPad. -EW 2011-07-25 14:07:16 | Comments | Printable version

JIM: The new Providence Baptist Church building, 1906 Story on July 2011 homecoming at Providence Baptist Church triggers a search by Jim which uncovered this story about what may have been the largest crowd ever assembled at Stapp Springs By "Jim" While catching up with my reading on CM a while ago, the announcement of the annual homecoming at Providence Baptist Church (Sunday, July 24) caught my eye. One of the largest crowds (perhaps the largest) ever assembled at Stapp Springs occurred 105 years ago this past spring when the new Providence Church building was dedicated on the eighth day of April, 1906. Victoria Pike voices pro-Adair County product policy Stanley and Shirley Jones honey on homemade bread by Miss Caitlyn Bunnell is DELICIOUS she says. But she'll be saving her own jar for the production of her famous winter cough syrup, Vickyquil By Victoria Pike COBURG, KY (2011-07-24) -Honey made at Kellyville by Stanley and Shirley Jones is delicious. Adair county folks were beating a trail to their door this afternoon. While I was there H.D. (Dwayne) Loy being driven by his lovely wife Susan showed up to purchase some as well. A great time was had by all during our short visit. Everyone was anxious to get home and have a taste. I sampled mine on a piece of homemade bread made by Miss Catlyn Bunnell from the farmers market. DELICIOUS. According to my husband's nurse practitioner, local honey helps prevent sinus infections. My jar will probably be used to make my famous cough remedy this winter. Vickyquil. Never hurts to be prepared. The other ingredients are a closely guarded secret. --Victoria Pike Comments re article 45763 Local Adair County honey for sale 2011-07-25 05:11:10 | Comments | Printable version Birthdays and Anniversaries for July 25 Happy Anniversary, Adam and Courtney Roy (2020) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy anniversary, Gary and Doris Lane (1963) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Anniversary, Taylor and Dustin Morrison | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Anniversary, Travis and Amanda Miller (2009) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Ashton Flatt | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Barbara Dean "Deana" Partin | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Brent Beard (1979) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Carlett Adalyn Raenell Gomez (2009) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Charles Tooley | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Elijah Mann (2002) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Gretchen Emery Miles | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Jeremy Feese | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Johnny Morgan (1954) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Kamden Snow (2011) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Lindsay Breeding | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Michelle Estes (1968) | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Nancy Taylor | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Phyllis McClister | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Rebecca Lynn Keith | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Roger Elliott | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Sawyer Nelson Harris | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Shelbi Cheatham | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Steve Bell | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, Teresa Bright | (Updates/Corrections) Happy Birthday, William Bug Knight (1950) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Mrs. Norma Ann Cissell, Taylor Co., KY (1937-2017) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Holly Jacolba Gladsden, Green County, KY family | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Keith Dunbar, Russell Springs, KY (1923-2019) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Curtis Bond, Campbellsville, KY (1941-2019) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Lucille Ryder, Adair Co. native (1920-2019) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Gene Lewis, Liberty, KY (1945-2020) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Mrs. Lynda Gorin Lobb, Green Co., KY (1936-2011) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Dorothy Claycomb, Taylor Co., KY (1925) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Frederick Thomas Burton, Cincinnati, OH (1949) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Charles Brett "Chaz" Hayden, Jr., Campbellsville, KY, (2012-2012) | (Updates/Corrections) In Memory Birthday, Jay B.
