A dismal Adair standing can be changed, at virtually no cost You don't have to wait until in the morning to go to the Office of Adair County Court Clerk Dennis Loy, at the Adair County Judicial Center, 201 Campbellsville ST, Columbia, KY, to make the change, though that's a great idea. You can also do it in minutes, online, by clicking to Kentucky Donate for Life site. We encourage everyone, whether they live in Adair County, a surrounding county, or anywhere in Kentucky to take time now to update now. In all likelihood, someone you know, someone very dear to you, is waiting for the Gift of Life now. Do it for Dr. Phil Aaron, whose life was changed by a donor in New York. Do it for the many here at home whose life depends on an organ transplant. Special ColumbiaMagazine.com story After reading Dr. Phil Aaron's story, Dr. Phil R. Aaron: A Gift for the New Year , an out-of-state reader did some research. The picture the research showed, as far as Adair County's vaunted reputation for being a giving county, should shake every citizen to their knees when it comes to the Greatest Gift, the Gift of Life, which can be made so easily by registering to be an organ donor. What the researcher found was that, while Adair County has the second highest population in the seven-county area, it has the second lowest number of Organ Donors. While the researcher didn't offer an interpretation of the participation rate, it isn't difficult to say, with absolute certainty, that Adair County ranks at the very bottom when participation/population is taken into account. While Cumberland County has only 2/3 the organ donors of Adair, Adair County has more than twice the population! The Gift of Life: Decision of son let two people see Patricia Kimbler's moving story shows just how important it can be to sign an organ donation card. Family's quick action, even in a time of grief, did allow loved one to live on in the gift of sight for two people. She urges: Please sign up. It does make a difference. Comments re photo 39015. Dr Phil Aaron A Gift for the New Year By Patricia Kimbler The gift of life is the most precious gift we can give. Without hesitation my children, myself, and their father sign our donor card, always saying to each other: after we were gone we wouldn't need any of our organs anyway... If we could help one person live that would be wonderful! Little did we know. My friend, my children's father, my ex-husband Jimmy Kimbler would have a major heart attack on the way to clock out of work at Cox's Interior, one otherwise normal day at such a young age of 46. Boyhood search for Ol' Rob thwarted by the government Varmintology By Billy Joe Fudge Before our federal and state governments put a stop to it, a couple of friends of mine and I would embark on nocturnal, Ol' Rob safaris under the guise of camping trips. I can tell you that although we never were able to lay eyes upon this mythic beast, he tormented us beyond imagination from dusk to dawn. I always came armed to the hilt with my trusty eight-inch scabbard knife. Article continues... click title or click here to read whole article. 2011-01-27 04:42:52 | Comments | Printable version
New Blue Bird tenants a sign of early Spring, writer thinks Melody Boward writes:To All the Bird lovers (and warm weather friends too). I am of the belief we are in for a early spring, of course you couldn't tell it by the snow out there right now...But I have hope and faith. While looking out my kitchen window this past Monday morning I spotted two "Bluebirds", yes; they are back!!! The Mrs. roamed around the nest box a long while checking it out , "Hum yeah maybe this place would work out for a new home this year." Looks kinda homey and the furnishings are good around here. The Mr Bluebird agreed and he flew off, maybe to look around for springs, bedding, and food source. Mrs Bluebird just kept going in and out of the house back and forth in the tree back to the nest box...Yep think I have new tenants.
