Thanksgiving is top day for cooking fires

State offers tips for preventing fires, for precautions if you have a cooking fire

Leaving food on the stove to cook unattended is a recipe for disaster, says Kentucky State Fire Marshal William Swope.

According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Thanksgiving is the leading day for home cooking fires. U.S. firefighters responded to roughly 1,300 home fires involving cooking equipment on Thanksgiving in 2008, roughly three times the daily average of cooking fires.

Lewis Haynes recognized by alma mater, Campbellsville U.

Pastor Haynes was recently recognized in a feature article in the Campbellsvillian, the Campbellsville University magazine. 'He's one of the quiet, wonderful people in the world today,' a member of his church said. 'The Plum Point Baptist Church congregation. . . dearly loves him.' and he's in his third term as pastor there. He's remembered by thousands of former students in the Adair County School system. A unique feature of his church is its Coffee Can Fund, which helps those in need year round, but especially at Christmas

Overcorrection a factor in Horse Trailer wreck

Incident occurs on LBN Parkway just west of Columbia, KY

Adair Co., KY - Trooper Nick Davis is currently investigating a collision that occurred November 22, 2010, at 10:30amCT, 1 mile West of Columbia on the Louie B Nunn Parkway.

The collision occurred when a 2004 Chevy, operated by Don Reynolds, age 60, of Richmond, KY, was traveling westbound on the Louie B Nunn Parkway, pulling an empty horse trailer. Reynolds was attempting to overtake another vehicle when he dropped off the left side of the roadway, overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle.

Ed, I found this article from the New York Times in today's Cincinnati Enquirer. It deals with your pressing traffic problem (that's probably what prompted this article). I noted that the roundabouts go counterclockwise. That would be difficult if all the endcoming streets were two-way streets.

ACHS A-Team qualifies for NAQT National Championship

Only Adair Co. and DuPont Manual advance from State where team has 8-0 run with only one loss later, to the tournament champion DuPont Manual. Team members competing this weekend were Luke Maupin, Ryan Montgomery, Jake Leibeck, Eddie Franklin, Kyle Mann, Heather Jackson, Matt Rogers, and Alex Durham. Their coach is Brett Reliford.

The Adair County High School quiz bowl team returned to action full force on Saturday, November 20, by quailfying for the NAQT National Championship at the University of Louisville Fall Invitational. 30 teams were represented out of some of the best across the entire state of Kentucky as well as some of the top teams from Ohio.

The Campbellsville University Opera Workshop, under the direction of Dr. Mark Bradley, professor of music, will present the performance of Mozart's "Cosi fan Tutte," in The Gheens Recital Hall in Gosser Fine Arts Center at 210 University DR, Campbellsville, KY The first performance will be on Sunday, November 21, at 3pmET/2pmCT The second performance will take place on Monday, November 22, at 8pmET/7pmCT.
