I never want ME to be missing when home made ice cream is being made.

That is one of my favorite dishes. People just don't seem to make it as much as we did in the 50's and 60's.

Dave Burton sends his own advice for turkey hunters

About: KY Fish Wildlife sends advice for coming turkey season

Sounds like some great ideas - with the exception of carrying and using turkey feathers. With respect to safety, hunters are advised not to wear or openly carry anything of color which might cause another hunter to mistake them for a turkey.

I've seen other helpful safety messages that hunters may want to carry a large orange-colored plastic bag to put the turkey in while departing the field. Just make sure the turkey is indeed deceased!

Tragedy has struck the community where I live. This week a mobile home in the north end of the county where I live burned to the ground. Four children and one adult died and more of the family was injured. There were a total of twelve people in the mobile home. They lost everything they owned as well as five members of their family. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Letter from an apostrophe apostate

For Adair Assimilation Academy "Talking and Scribing 101"
It's settled; only one m in homade

Overpunctuating homade could result in general discontent amongst half of citizenry

By "Jim"

Those of us fortunate enough to have been born south of Big Crick (known to our northern neighbors as the Ohio River) tend to elide considerably, especially in our everyday conversations. Some (allegedly) learned folk quite incorrectly view this as verbal laziness; rather, it's an economy of speech, pure and simple. One never knows when those elided sounds can better used elsewhere.

Properly mumbling SC Kentuckieese:
Apostrophe is needed in ho'made

For Adair Assimilation Academy "Talking and Scribing 101"
It's settled; only one m in homade

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

I'm not sure I follow what this guy is saying, but if he means that "ho'made" is slang for "homemade" ice cream, it would be spelled "ho'made."

The reason: the apostrophe indicates letters are missing from theword. In this case, the apostrophe indicates that "me" have beenomitted.

Not sure that helps.

Cheers,

s/DuaneExcellent answer.

KY Fish & Wildlife sends advice for coming turkey season

From Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife

Most turkey hunters won't enjoy a totally secluded spot when the season opens April 17, 2010. The small size of Kentucky's average farm and an estimated 90,000 turkey hunters means many of us must hunt in places where a competing hunter may be just a ridge or two away.

If you find yourself in a heavily pressured spot this season, try some of the tactics used by hunters on public lands.
