She was a member of a large, respected Adair County family and a long time resident of Columbia, KY

Pallie Rae Stotts Nelson, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009. She was 97.Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at 11amCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY, with Brother Guy Shepperd officiating. Interment will be next to her husband in Haven Hill Cemetery, 1276 Liberty RD, Columbia, KY.

Rita Murrell has winning duck in 3rd Annual Race

Rita Murrell was the lucky winner of the 42" High Definition Tv, the top prize in the 3rd Annual Wacky Quacky Duck Race, conducted by the Columbia Parks & Recreation Board.

Ms. Murrell's entrant, Duck No. 41, was the number two duck most of the race, but the lead duck hung momentarily when it missed the gate by less than one foot, and No. 41 came across to be netted by Charles Grimsley and verified by Donna Shirley. The time this year was 3 minutes, 35 seconds, according to the David Herbst.

There were 184 ducks in the race this year, down a bit from past years, race officials said.

Obituary: Lovie Howard Kinnaird, 84, Metcalfe Co., KY

Beloved Metcalfe Countian, whose life epitomized Christian ideals, was an educator and church leader. She was a graduate of Jackman High School, Columbia, KY, and attended Kentucky State University in Frankfort, KY. A moving story of her life with husband R.T. Kinnaird by Geniece Marcum is at Lifetime Of Work And Success Shared By Kinnairds She will be buried in the cemetery she and her husband R.T. looked over for so many years, beside the church she faithfully served as Sunday School teacher, Beech Grove Baptist in Metcalfe County, KY -CM

Lovie Howard Kinnaird, 84, Edmonton, KY, died Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pmCT, Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the Butler Funeral Home 201 East ST, Edmonton, KY. Burial will be in the Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 8, 2009, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the funeral home.

Thanks to Adair 911 the emergency response team and Dr Rogers. Thank you for taking such great care for my son after his injury Friday night at the football game. We are so lucky to have the type of individuals we have in Adair County that is willing to step out and help people when they are in need. Dustin is doing great and his mom and I want to thank everyone who was a part of this. Also thanks for all the prayers that went up for Dustin.

The Adair County Genealogical Society, Membership renewal is due in January of each year. It is published in the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. it is received by all members of the Society. Membership is open to anyone interested in the preservation of history of Adair County and the surrounding counties of Casey, Cumberland, Green, Metcalfe, Russell and Taylor. Annual dues are $15.00.
