Our town's famous Jack Russell Stephens Robert H. Stone, Lebanon, TN, writes about Is Jack Russell Stephens the smartest dog in Adair County I am loving the correspondence and photographs of Jack Russell Stephens. I sent one of the photographs to my friends who have one named Ace. They got him from a shelter and assume the name is because he has a spot on his forehead that looks like the Ace of Diamonds. -RobertThanks, Mr. Stone. We'd love to see a photo of Ace. We've been right pleased with the worldwide fame Jack has gotten, but we're a mite miffed that he hasn't been yet invited to 1600 Pennsylvania AV, been commissioned a Kentucky Colonel, or been invited to appear on Good Morning America (We count Diane Sawyer a born again Adair Countian since she's been to Lindsey Wilson College. ) I bet you that if Rose Kennedy (another born again Adair Countian by virtue of campaigning for her son Jack, at Cornelia Hughes' restaurant on Russell Road in 1960) were alive, there would have been an invitation for Jack to come to Hyannisport by Federal Express this morning.-EW 2009-08-07 11:41:22 | Comments | Printable version
May just prove The Hawk's Conspiracy Theory Bryan Blair writes about: http://www.columbiamagazine.com/index.php?sid=31167> Gas Price Drumbeat Could be a conspiracy The Hawk says Many stations along Interstates have started flashing a 'cash' price and then a 'credit' price on their signs and it usually runs about 3 to 5 cents difference....granted they do have to change the prices, so perhaps the driver did indeed see the price change happen, but just pointing out that I have seen Flying J's, Love's and other truck stops on my daily drive to Louisville running the cash/credit prices and it does look like the price changes before your eyes.-Bryan BlairMaybe this is an explanation, but it is all to logical for a real conspiracy believer. It may just prove The Hawk's Big Oil Conspiracy against Adair Countians. After all, you are an Adair Countian. I just wish Dr. Neat were alive to explain it. -CM 2009-08-07 10:45:14 | Comments | Printable version

Mike Neal says Richard Stephens lucky his dog has moved Smartest Dog: Mr. Neal cites both David Wells and Doc Rogers to back up claim for Molly Neal Dog as witness for trick qualifying Molly for consideration as smarter dog than Jack Russell Stephens Ed, I must express again how much I enjoy your website spending most of my time out our Adair County. I truly appreciate this as I know many others do, I will have to say *Richard is lucky that my dog Molly no longer lives in Columbia, KY. She was the only dog, verified by David Wells and Doc Rogers, himself, who would look both ways before crossing Jamestown Street. s/Mike Neal Thanks so much. *"Richard" is known Democrat Richard Stephens, who claims canine intelligence supremacy for Jack Russell Stephens (Dog), whose performance repertoire is almost as big as Lance Burton's and could easily qualify him for a special solo performance at The Dream Depot, were he and Richard not so shy. Molly Neal Dog probably has him beat on street crossing, though, and that's a critical part of survival skills in Downtown Columbia and Jamestown Street. 2009-08-07 07:49:30 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
