Suggests more benches in Downtown Columbia

He's impressed by work Garden Club is doing
About:Orphan Bench repainted in use

By Bobby D. Morrison

I think Barbara's (Barbara Armitage's) thought about more rustic benches around the square is a great idea. It would add a better atmosphere to the downtown area and encourage grandparents to bring their grandchildren downtown to spend time with them plus give a place for resting encouraging conservatiion.

Remember the whittlers on the courthouse benches, maybe we should re-install the courthouse benches. I will donate my shop and building knowledge to anyone who wants to help build them.

I had to return from Texas due to the death of my Mother-In-Law, Katherine Montgomery, so I took the opportunity to go by the Trabue House to look at the benches early this morning to fulfill my obligation to you and Maury.

The garden club started to arrive shortly afterwards and we decide on the mode to refinish so we can maintain their original look but protect them from the element.

I was very impressed with the work the the Garden Club is doing and excited that they have taken an interest in The Trabue House. I remember many of us working to found it many years ago when I was highly involved in community events.

Of course Barbara and others invited me to get more involved. I will probable do that after being absent for so many years with so much international travel. There's no place like home.
