Greater Greater Adair County, KY

Marsha Walker writes, to Tiffany Hadley, via CM, about: Greater Adair County
I think I have you beat on your story of running into someone from home. Mom and I were on a tour in Sydney, Australia several years ago, and we decided to take a ride on the monorail train. At a station stop, the doors opened, and Kay Collins (of Dreamland Motel), who was there with a tour group from Brandenburg, yelled my name. We were so shocked as we got out and greeted them. That was a unique experience.

Any logical reason for gas price difference?

Cameon Campbell writes about: Gas Price Drumbeat Columbia 20 cents higher than Cville
I too have taken notice that Columbia's gas prices seem to always be higher than any of our surrounding neighbors. It's extremely frustrating that gas is so much more expensive in this small town than compared to many many other places. Now more than ever in these tough economic times gas should be made available for as low a price as possible to make it easier on the average family working to get ahead. If anyone knows the reason why Columbia's gas prices are always so much higher than everyone else's, please share the information. I would really like to know if there is a legitimate reason for the prices being what they are. Surely a twenty-cent difference between Columbia's and Campbellsville's gas prices has some logical explanation behind it.

Gas Price Drumbeat: Columbia 20 cents higher than C-ville

Gerald Doss writes:
I just came from Campbellsville, and guess what? The gas price was 2.28. Passed Gate on 55 North in Columbia and the gas price was $2.48 in less than 10 miles. Hard to figure out what is the reason. Just looked on KY gas prices and saw several places around Ky in the $2.20 range. What is happening here in Columbia, KY?

About: Even More Adair Countians in DC Last Week

Tiffany Hadley writes:
It always strikes me so funny that no matter where an Adair Countian goes, they are sure to run into a fellow community member - and if not a fellow Adair Countian, then one nearby (Russell, Taylor, Green, etc). This has happened to me on several occasions and other folks I know have shared their related stories with me. It really is a SMALL world!

About: More Adair Countians in DC Last Week

John writes:
No Sorry that wasn't me. We did see another Adair Countian quite famous now as we were viewing the WWII Memorial. When we got to the memorial and found the pillar for Kentucky there was none other than Bam Carney and his family taking a picture. Mr. Carney was on his way to Pennsylvania for a conference and they stopped to view the memorial and were making their way to the Vietnam Memorial.

When I was a lad there were three stores in downtown Sparksville with the Page's, the Harvey's, and the Loy's owning and operating these establishments.About two blocks (I like the sound of that) North of Downtown there was a store and garage owned and operated by, I believe, a Gaskin.

EMS worker wants Address Markers at all locations

"These Address Markers are so important when we need to find you in an Emergency" Kim Hadley, Adair County EMS worker
About: How about Magisterial District contest for Address Markers

To ColumbiaMagazine.com

I agree with Mr. Lewis on this idea. I live in the city limts in the Green Hills Subdivision and I asked my neighbors/friends to make ours the first to go all blue. I work for EMS in this county and these Address Markers are so important when we need to find you in an Emergency. It would be nice if all the city/county residents are on board. $10 could save your Life/Property. Thankss/Kim Hadley
