Obituary: Susie Della Sapp, 99, Taylor Co., KY

Mrs. Sapp was the head of a large, respected Taylor County family. She leaves 55 living descendants. She was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church and was the widow of the late Alonza Sapp

Susie Della Sapp of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Isaac Groves and Ozie Groves, was born December 27, 1909, in Portland, TN. She died at 5:55amET., Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in Campbellsville, KY at the age of 99.

The funeral service will be Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 1:00pmET/Noon CT, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, with Rev. Alan Whitham, Rev. Carlis Compton, and Rev. Richard Lowe the officiating clergy. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 3878 Greensburg RD, Campbellsville, KY.



She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

She united in marriage to Alonza Sapp September 20, 1930. He preceded her in death December 30, 1997.

She is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters and one son: Bernice Bowen Cox, Laverne Witham and husband, Edward, and Manuel Sapp and wife, Carolyn of Campbellsville. KY

  • Daughter-in-law: Margaret Sapp of Campbellsville, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren

  • Two brothers: Benton Moore Groves and Alton Edward Groves of Bucyrus, OH

  • And several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Randolph Sapp November 23, 2003 and five brothers and four sisters: James Houston Groves, J. C. Moore, Nettie Lee Houk, Osie Rebecca Perry, Thomas Jefferson Groves, Oscar Presley Groves, Ollie Bernice Groves, William Chester Groves and Deloris Ann Groves.

Pallbearers are Gary Bowen, Greg Bowen, Randy Bowen, Wendell Bowen, Bradley Sapp, Dwight Sapp, Steve Sapp, Dale Witham and David Witham.

Family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Gideon Bibles and may be made at the funeral home.
