(Adv) Monday was Big Day for classifieds. They're working for everybody It's been a big day for classifieds today, with Yard Sales pouring in from all over Adair County and several from out of county. Automotive has been very active, too. In fact, many catergories had additions as deletions today, in all, well over 20 changes. Not a day for the World Record Book of Guinesses, but a big one after all. Here's a big item just in for automotive, just a few minutes ago: 1986 Nissan pickup for sale. $850Classifieds are a great way to get that extra cash needed for first of the month bills, and a great way to find bargains. Either way, buying or selling, they're a great way to do business, efficiently and very inexpensively. 2009-06-29 22:01:12 | Comments | Printable version

Remembering Nancy Akin: She was a long time friend About: Nancy R. Shirley Akin, 62 To ColumbiaMagazine.com: I've known Nancy for a long time and come to love her. We've been through a lot together over the passed twenty years. She was a barrel of laughs. We had so much fun working together, we got to the point if we looked for a job we'd say we come as a package if you hire me you have to hire her. We where always doing things with the kids. We both had low times in our lives and would try our best to be there for each other. Nancy was one of those people who would walk through coals, in good weather and in bad. Would be a friend and always be there for someone. I will miss you Nanz. Von Flatt Price recalls Adair Co. Fair, other memories Recalls great food at Adair County Fair when her parents had the food there, and wishes some of Columbia's current restaurants had been around in earlier times. REUNIONS By Von Price, Louisville, KY Thank you so much for adding our Class Reunion. I remember you and your brother Ralph and I also knew your father when he was a mail carrier. My parents were Mr. & Mrs. Otha Flatt. You might have eaten at the Adair County Fair (maybe once in your life) where my parents had Food and many great things to eat for many years. I always like visiting Columbia and can't believe how much it has changed. I just wish that we could have had McDonald's, Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, and all the others that you have now when I was growing up in Adair County. But at least they have them for the kids today! Thanks Again. s/Von Price Louisville, Ky 2009-06-29 00:25:22 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Local History

Comment: Parking downtown should be left for customers About: Downtowns problems are no mystery To ColumbiaMagazine.com One important reason people don't use the square that Billy Joe did not mention is parking. If the shop owners and other square inhabitants would park behind the square and leave the parking spaces on the square for shoppers/business clients, I, for one, would use the facilities on the square more often. Many cities have "customer only" parking spaces next to businesses. s/George Kolbenschlag 2009-06-29 00:22:39 | Comments | Printable version | See topic Letters and Reader Feedback
