About: "Precious puppies for a price: Unlimited love, devoted care"

Ed:

Great news! Thanks to CM's quick response to this story, both puppies have found great homes. I know that they will be cared for and loved for the rest of their lives. Although Wayne and I are sad to see them leave our home we are happy that they have found their way into the hearts of their new families.

Letter: Wants Fiscal Court to reconsider band help

To ColumbiaMagazine.com:

While visiting in Columbia this past weekend, I learned that the Fiscal Court had declined to contribute funds toward the Adair Band's trip to New York for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

I dare say, one would be hard pressed to locate a fiscal court in any other town in America that would deny helping its young people make a trip such as this. Especially, when its the Adair County Band, a nationally-recognized, award-winning band program.

Update, 3:38pmCT, Tuesday, February 24, 2009: Precious puppies get another loving home

By Barbara Armitage

No creature on this earth deserves to be "thrown away". That's exactly what happened to these two beautiful little puppies.

Someone dumped these babies on Bull Run Road just off Hwy 206 and left them there to starve to death. By huddling under boulders on the cold wet ground they survived at least 2 days without food before we found them.

Letter: LWC alum suggests new name for Pinewood

About: " Open house at Pinewood Country Club"

Ed,

I look forward to a long article which will outline all the planned improvements to the golf course; e.g., upgrading the carts, overseeding the fairways, tees and greens, improving the traps, sprinkling systems and large improvements to the pool and bath house. Here is hoping that it is the signature course for 50 miles around---make that 100 miles around!

With new owners, new purpose and new direction, I suggest a new name. One that is befitting the new, progressive Columbia and Lindsey Wilson College. Of course, there will be a new logo to sell golfing paraphernalia and to adorn the LWC golfing team uniforms as they become the perennial NAIA National Champs!

Signed: An ole alum with too much time on his hands but with good wishes for Columbia and Lindsey as they continue to grow and prosper!

Letter: Contributions help WWII veterans see Washington, DC

Breeding, KY, veteran Paul W. Kirby calls for donatons for those who are owed so much
Veterans List

Dear Friends, Fellow Vets, and Families:

As you know the spring weather is about here. I want to ask for your help at this time (just a little ) and if you can't I will understand.

Last year on September 10, 2008 I took a trip to Washington, DC. it was the first time for me, and I really want to say it was very heartfelt trip. I was a Honor Flight Guardian that helped World War II Veterans to visit and see the Monument that was built in their honor, but the problem is that most of the Veterans will never be able to see it unless we help.
