Changing face of Columbia: Construction on Jamestown Street

2007-09-24 - Jamestown ST, Columbia, KY - Photo By Ed Waggener.
NOT ALL THE ACTION IS ON KY 61 SOUTH. While most of the focus of attention in Columbia is on the mega-development on KY 61 S, Jamestown Street is changing too. In this line up, Restaurant Row is getting a new look for a an old player. The brown building in the center is a larger Pizza Hut, being built while the old one, built ca 1980, is still in operation. In the lineup are Subway, McDonald's, Pizza Hut (2), Pizza Hut (1), and Wendy's. Not visible in the same short area are a Houchen's Deli, Domino's Pizza, Tray's Chinese Restaurant, Fiesta Mexico, Taco Bell, Dairy Queen, Long John Silver's, and Sonic, with two c-store deli's on either end, 14 choices to graze, in all. The manager of Pizza Hut said the old store will be razed to make room for parking when the new one opens. That is expected to happen in November.
