Welcome: Hayden Scott Browning

Fred Hayden and Sara Scott Browning are pleased to announce the birth of their first child, Hayden Scott Browning. Hayden was born on March 14, 2007 in Somerset, Kentucky. He weighed 9 lbs, 1 oz. and was 20 inches long. He was delivered by Dr. Tara Horn. Hayden's maternal grandparents are Jeff and Henrietta Scott of Columbia, Kentucky. His maternal great grandmother is Sara Roush of Louisville, Kentucky. Hayden's paternal grandparents are Ben and Anne Browning of Lebanon, Kentucky and the late Gertrude Hayden Browning. Hayden has many special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Straw fire burns one-half hour, takes 12 firement to put out

The Adair County Fire Department responded around 330 on Monday, August 27, to a grass fire, at 61 north and the new bypass interchange, upon arrival there was 1/2 acre of straw burning, 12 firemen responded and were on the scene for around 30 minutes. - DONALD HARE, Adair County Fire Department Public Affairs officer.

A cat and birthday story: Aunt Clarice White and

Clarice White and Dennis Reeves both celebrated a shared birthday. Their birthdays are on August 20th, but they celebrated with cake and ice cream and family and friends at Aunt Clarice's house, on Sunday, August 19th.

The people who attended were: Brother and Mrs. Raymond Martin, Donna Karnes, Caroline Feese, Margaret and Addie Mae Hendrickson and Alice, Phyllis Reeves, Mary Coffey, Louis Reeves, Dennis and Renee Reeves, and Carol Shaul.

Mike's Team presents 50's, 60's, 70's music at Depot

Mikes's Team proudly presents 50's 60's & 70's favorites at The Dream Depot, 106 Jamestown ST, Columbia KY, Saturday night, September 1, 2007, at 7:00pm. This show will be to raise money for MS in memory of Mike Ellis and those still battling Multiple Sclerosis. Our team wants to invite everyone out to a great show for a great cause, finding a cure! Kris Knight gets big welcome home in Nashville, Columbia

Home from Iraq: Despite delays in departure from Atlanta, whole family, including kids, stayed up to welcome him into Nashville; despite the storm Saturday, there was a good turnout for his welcome home party. He'll be home for 20 days before returning.

We were finally able to get Kris here and celebrate his homecoming after many months of anticipation. The weather wasn't very cooperative with us, but it just made the weekend more interesting. His flight into Nashville was delayed for several hours due to storms. He was stuck in the Atlanta airport and we were making plans to drive there to pick him up when the weather finally broke and he came on in.

Barnetts Creek UMC will have scrap iron drive

Barnett's Creek United Methodist Church of the Pellyton Community will be having a srap iron drive on Thursday, September 6, 2007, and Friday, September 7, 2007, from 8:00am to 8:00pm CT. Anyone interested in donating scrap such as appliances, old car batteries, iron of any type, metal sheeting etc., may bring items to the church yard on these days and they will be hauled to the proper location. Please, no tires or garbage. All proceeds will go directly to the church mission and outreach fund. Thank you to all. We look forward to seeing you there. Adair veterans list continues to grow

Three more veterans have been added to the list:

Brenda Dreyer sent two: "Capt. John R. Curry, 13th Kentucky Cavalry, Civil War, buried in a field in the Vester area of Adair County. John Ely Pike, 2nd Kentucky Cavalry, Civil War. He was buried in the old Mt. Carmel cemetary, but was moved to the new Mt. Carmel cemetary when Green River reservoir was being developed. Both are my great,great,great grandfathers."

Paula Eaton Ball wrote: "Can you add Eric Howard, who served in the Air Force? He lived in the Mt. Carmel Community."

Billy Fudge essay: The County Divide

About one mile south of the crest of Wheeler Hill at KY 61 & KY 768, rainfall on either side of a house takes far different routes to the Ohio River

While passing through Hendersonville, North Carolina on I-26, I crossed the Eastern Continental Divide. This got me to thinking about Adairs very own Continental (County) Divide, so to speak.

Adair County has two watersheds. The Green River Watershed is by far the largest area in Adair. The smallest is, of course, the Cumberland River Watershed. The point at which two drops of rain falling side by side and each going to a different river is the County Divide for these two rivers.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the Tammy Jones fundraiser

We, the family, friends, and co-workers of Tammy Jones would like to thank everyone who contributed, donated or helped in any way, make this benefit a huge success, even though the electricity was out for approximately one hour due to thunderstorms in the area there were 120 in attendance and over $3,300.00 raised.
