LWC Women's Golf wins regional; in nationals

Burton medalist; Elkins MSC Player of the Year

GEORGETOWN, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College women's golf team won their third straight NAIA Region XI championship today at Cherry Blossom Golf Club.

The No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders earn the automatic bid into next month's NAIA National Championship after shooting a two-day team-total of 638 (324-314).

Lindsey Wilson also captured its third straight Mid-South Conference Tournament title as the two tournaments were played concurrently over the 5,813-yard, par 72 Cherry Blossom course.

Lindsey Wilson Men's Golf claims regional championship!

Blue Raiders advance to national championship in Plymouth, IN, May 22-25.Lindsey Wilson's Chris Starks was named NAIA Region XI Men's Golf Coach of the Year; CU Jeff Sullivan named medalist and will advance to nationals

MOUNT STERLING, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team punched their ticket to the NAIA National Championships with a win today at the NAIA Region XI Championships.

The regional tournament was played over two days at Old Silo Golf Club.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Raiders shot a three-round total of 927 (320-303-304) to beat second place Campbellsville (KY) University's 944 (324-305-315) by 17 strokes.

CU to present string chamber ensemble matinee concert

The Campbellsville University String Chamber Ensemble will present its spring concert, under the direction of Dr. J. Robert Gaddis, dean of the School of Music, Sunday, April 29, 2007 at 3pmET/2pmCT at The Gheens Recital Hall of the Gosser Fine Arts Center.

The program includes the Holberg Suite and Ases Tod by Edvard Grieg, conducted by Nilson Galvao Jr., a graduate conducting student from Recife, Brazil. Alla Rustica by Antonio Vivaldi and Serenade for Strings by Josef Suk will be conducted by Wan-Soo Cho, a graduate conducting student from Busan, Korea.

Two ACES 4th graders honored for literary works

Softball sweeps Midway on the road to extend winning streak

The LWC softball team has won 14 of their last 15 games

MIDWAY, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College softball team swept Midway (KY) College in a doubleheader on Monday.

Lindsey Wilson (28-15) shutout Midway 6-0 in the first game of the doubleheader. The Blue Raiders defeated the Eagles 10-3 in the second game.

Chamber Ribbon Cutting for Best Buy Clothes

The Columbia-Adair County Chamber of Commerce held a well-attended ribbon cutting at Sue Rowe's "Best Buy . . . Clothes and More," at 10:00am CT, today, Tuesday, April 24, 2007.

The store is located at 310 Public Square in the building formerly occupied by Loy's Department Store and, before that, by Mrs. Rowe's Wooten's Department Store, a widely known clothing store operated by Mrs. Rowe's late aunt and uncle Ruel and Runie Wooten.

Mr. Cundiff was retired from Arvin Industries in Columbus, IN. He will be accorded military honors by Columbia VFW Post 6097


Ralph Junior "Bill" Cundiff, 78, 2258 Carrie Bolin Drive, Columbia, KY, passed away Monday, April 23, 2007 at 10:30am CT at his home after a long illness.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 25, 2007, at 2:30pm CT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funera Home, 210 Greensburg ST, Columbia, KY. The officiating clergy will be Bro. Troy Long and Larry Bottoms.

Adair County Road Department Schedule April 24, 2007

Several Road Projects in District 1 today

District 1: Lonnie Page, is working in on the Blue Branch cutting a ditch so the road would drain. Terry Williams, Tom Brock, and Donnie Melton has gone on the Dunnville Road cutting a tree that has fallen, reported by the school bus driver. Gary Samuells will cold patching on Cooper Ridge and Winfrey Hill in District 1. Terry Williams will be cutting out the Abrell Road in Distrct 1, and Donnie Melson will be hauling gravel for the Abrell Road. - LISA LEE, Administrative Assistant, Judge-Executive's Office.

Campbellsville University dedicates Ransdell Chapel


It began as a prayer eight years ago in the heart of then new president Michael V. Carter

CAMPBELLSVILLE - Over 900 people gathered for the inaugural worship service and dedication ceremony in the newly completed Ransdell Chapel on the campus of Campbellsville University Wednesday, April 18, 2007.

Donors, trustees, alumni, students, faculty and staff filled the sanctuary, joined in a high-church celebration of the completion of the chapel, the pinnacle marking the university's 100 years of service to Christ-centered education. Praise was offered up in music, song and word for the new Ransdell Chapel.

Adair Justice Center PDB meeting cancelled for this evening

Special called meeting set for Tuesday, May 8, 2007

The Project Development Board meeting for this evening has been cancelled. Mr. Bing Ewen with DLZ, architect for the project, contacted the judge's office yesterday and asked that the meeting be post poned until May 8, 2007 at 5:30. He stated his firm did not have any new information to share at this time.

The Project Development Board will have a special-called meeting on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 5:30pm CT in the basement of the Adair County Annex Building. The meeting will be open to the public. -GALE COWAN, Finance Officer, Adair County Judge Executive's Office.

Three days last week saw incredible Adair auto death toll

First was at 10:09pm April 19; latest was Saturday night between 8 & 9:00pm

Adair County was been saddened by an almost unbelievable three auto fatalities which occurred at the end of last week over three days.

Even more signficant was that it all happend in a total timespan of less than 48 hours.

The latest happened in Metcalfe County on Saturday night, April 21, 2007, when Columbia resident Valerie Morris lost her life in a single vehicle accident on Butler Hill, KY 80, as she was returning to Adair County with her grandson, Jaxson Abbott, who sustained slight injuries.

A story in today's Lexington Herald by Bill Estep tells of the protests of "more than 50 people" who oppose the location of Bio-Lab in Pulaski County. Click Here to read the story.

Both the Columbia City Council and Adair Fiscal Court sent letters last year endorsing the effort to bring the lab to the area.

MOUNT STERLING, KY. - The Lindsey Wilson College men's golf team leads the NAIA Region XI Championship following today's 36-hole play at Old Silo Golf Club.

The No. 19-ranked Blue Raiders shot a two-round total of 623 (320-303) over the 6,977-yard, par 72, Old Silo course. Lindsey Wilson leads by six strokes over second place Campbellsville (KY) University who shot 629 (324-305) over today's 36 holes.
