A Boil Water Advisory is in effect for all consumers starting at 81 Old Portland Road-3649 Portland Road, Flatwoods Road, Kemp Road, and Bill Handy Road and all side roads in between. The advisory has been issued due to a main line break.

Source Water Protection Week in KY is Sept 28-Oct 4

From Robin Hartman

Frankfort, KY - - Team Kentucky invites you to participate in this year's Source Water Protection Week, September 28 through October 4, 2025. Started in 2021 by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the annual awareness week is an opportunity to become familiar with and appreciate the value of the many sources that supply our drinking water.

"Source Water Protection Week is an opportunity for everyone who appreciates clean water to learn about how they can take steps to protect our water supply," Dale Booth, Kentucky Division of Water's source water protection program coordinator said. "Source water protection is a common-sense, low-cost way to make sure that communities have safe, abundant water. It is easier and cheaper for us to prevent water from getting polluted in the first place than it is to pay for expensive treatments to clean water afterward."

Throughout the week, partners for water health will raise awareness about the importance of protecting drinking water sources.

The Division of Water and Kentucky State Parks have joined forces to install unique drinking water awareness signs at Barren River Lake State Resort Park and Green River Lake State Park beaches. These signs are designed to raise awareness about where our drinking water comes from and how to protect it.

Bowling Green, KY - Three life-changing Kentucky educators will be joining The Louis B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame this year. The late Lois Chandler, Julie Cowan, and Jennifer Fritsch are the members of the 17th class. They were selected by a statewide committee after a through application process. The formal 2025 Hall of Fame ceremony will happen on Friday, November 7, 2025, on Western Kentucky University's campus.
  • Mrs. Cowan, from Columbia, KY is a current educator at Adair County Primary Center. During her 33-year long (and counting) career, she has also worked at Col. William Casey Elementary.

  • Mrs. Chandler, from LaCenter, KY, was an educator for 56 years in various elementary schools, including Bandana, Concord, and Ballard Elementaries. She passed away in 2020 at the age of 92.

  • Mrs. Fritsch, from Bowling Green, KY, is a current art teacher at Glasgow Middle School. This is her 23rd year teaching.
The Governor Louie B. Nunn Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame was established in 2000 through a generous gift from former Governor Nunn, aimed at honoring the essential contributions of Kentucky's classroom teachers and their positive impact on the state's economy. WKU was chosen as its home due to its century-long legacy in teacher education. Learn more at https://www.wku.edu/kythf/.

Issues of high importance for each citizen of Adair Co.

By Mary Bardin

I attended the Fiscal Court meeting on September 23, 2025. The meeting went smoothly and very professionally. However, a few things were discussed that are of concern for our county. Of course, the jail is always a mention of concern with the amount of money that has to be transferred to fund the Adair Regional Jail.

Magistrate Reeder announced the county can no longer supply toilet paper to the inmates, but must be purchased from the commissary. I think the situation is horrendous if Adair County requires the toilet paper be purchased from an inmates commissary. Some of the inmates do not have anyone to provide commissary money.

Another concern is lack of Substance Abuse Programs for the inmates.
