Volleyball: Lady Indians face Lakers on Monday

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

The day after the Tribe knocked off Corbin 3-1 in the first round of the Kentucky 2A State Volleyball Tournament, the Adair County Lady Indians Volleyball team wrapped up tournament play on Saturday, September 13, 2025, with an 0-3 loss to Lexington Catholic, 25-18, 26-24, and 25-16. The Lady Indians battled valiantly against the Lady Knights of Catholic, but ultimately fell to the eventual 2A State Champions. The Lady Knights are 12-0 on the season, and have lost just one set this entire season.

The Lady Indians were led in kills by Junior Olivia Mantooth, with seven, led in digs by Senior Kinzlee Akin, and led in assists by Senior Anslie Spoon. Spoon and Mantooth would be named to the Kentucky 2A Championship all tournament team for their play during the Tribe's time in Owensboro.

The accomplishment of making the 2A for the Lady Indians cannot be understated, but it is also important to remember that the season is only halfway over and Adair County Volleyball has plenty of time to continue to impress us. They are back on the court at 7pmCT on Monday, September 15, 2025 as they go on the road to take on the Russell County Lady Lakers (11-5).

Question: Anyone else experiencing water taste issues?

By Veronica Arnold

I was going to reach out to the water treatment plant to inquire but is anyone else noticing the musty odor taste in the tap water? When we pass it through the filters it is even more pronounced, I think you can even smell it.

A quick google search said seasonal bacteria and algal growth can do this. Is anyone else having this issue? Inquiring minds wish to know.

Use the CM Comment Form to let us know if you're experiencing this too.

Football: Indians fall in double OT at McCreary Central

By Trey Stephens, Staff Writer

On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Adair County Indians Football team fell 23-20 to the McCreary Central Raiders in double overtime at Norm Parsons Field in Stearns, KY. The Indians battled all night and the game remained tight all the way through. Both teams seemed to seek a record number of penalty yards and mistakes, but lucky for everyone on the field, someone actually did have to win this one.

The game was tied 14-14 at the end of regulation after a Radiers game winning field goal was blocked and a return by the Indians was blown dead. That call gave many that made the trip from Columbia to Stearns great pause, as no justification was given for why the play was blown dead.

In overtime, the Raiders drew first blood with a touchdown, but then failed to convert the PAT. The Indians punched the ball in the end zone and then likewise missed their point-after attempt, leading to a 20-20 to double overtime.
