Letter: Mail Delivery

Bryan New writes:
That isn't the whole story. I've got a package that has been stuck at the Louisville distribution center for nearly 2 weeks now. It has absolutely nothing to do with the weather. This happens all the time. I'm a collector of certain things and I never have a problem with any distribution centers anywhere in the continental United States. It's always the Louisville center. Last year they even lost a package of mine.

Sometimes I get things 2 months late. I'm just about ready to contact Senator Rand Paul. I've been told that they have thousands of packages that go through there daily. After a while I don't buy that excuse. Why. Because that's their job and thats what they get paid to do. In my opinion someone needs to be fired there and they need some restructuring.

Letter: Naming of awards, or, proofreading is hard

Cynthia A. Meyer writes:
It is awesome that Russell County Sheriff Derek Polston took so many intoxicated and impaired drivers off the road making our roads safe... and he does deserve an award for doing so!

However, could the Governor's team have come up with another name for the award other than "Governors Impaired Driving Recipient Award for 2024"? Makes it sound as if the recipients of this award have been driving impaired themselves.
Cynthia, thanks for catching that -- they did in fact have a better name. Our cutline should have noted that Barber was a recipient of the "Governor’s Impaired Driving Enforcement Award." We've corrected it now. --Pen

Wondering Why You're Getting No Mail? It's Stuck In Louisville...

By Larry J. Smith

The delay in the mail continues in the Campbellsville, Columbia, Greensburg and Lebanon area. Big Dawg News has learned that the recent winter storm shut down the main mail operation in Louisville, stopping most mail deliveries.

The problem is not at the local post offices, but one of getting people to work at the Louisville distribution center after nearly nine inches of snow fell.
